Thanatos is no longer giving advice.Perhaps someone else could help if you post on the Disability board. If you still sneek a peek here thanatos, perhaps you could edit the title of your first post. At least you might not get as many pm's then and some peace.

hi, i'm not sure if this should be posted on here, or on a thread about fraud

someone i know has been claiming higher rate DLA mobility and care components, as well as carers allowance for her son since he was 7years old. he turned 16 in August

she has been claiming this as her son has ADHD....allegedly. i say allegedly as i recently found out that whenever she used to take him for medicals, she would get him to "play up" for the doctor. he was prescribed Ritalin, and she always gets the repeat prescriptions every month, but he has never taken the medication

this has come to light as i have her son at my house several times a week, and he told me in confidence that his mum is getting over £500 a month in DLA and carers allowance for him, and she has just started to give him £200 of it every month, when he turned 16, if he "backs her up and keeps his mouth shut" (his words)

he's at college full time doing a brick laying course, so its not as if he needs care 24/7, and his mum goes on holiday at least twice a year (without him, just with her boyfriend) even tho she's on benefits. i know this probably sounds like sour grapes on my part, but it just infuriates me that she is using her son like this, just to obtain money, and yet there are genuine people out there who get turned down for DLA all the time

i tried reporting her for fraud, but when i rang up, i was told that now she has a long claim in place, it won't be looked at again

do i just keep quiet about it, or is there another way of reporting her?

also, if she DOES have a genuine claim for him, now that he has turned 16, shouldn't he be claiming this in his own right, so that she is not pocketing it all?

  • hi can anyone answer my question a lady was paid a personal injury claim payout following a really nasty rtc out of her award she had to pay back DLA {paid to her during her years whilst awaiting settlement} what i would like to check is this normal procedure and if she was due to pay it back out of her settlement - should she not have received a statement/evidence that DLA that they got the money i would be greatful if anyone could help me get her an answer thankyou

my husband has a friend who also had to re-pay his dla after a compensation award was given. i feel it totally wrong. especially when you have paid into the system all your working life!!! i can only presume its working practice, either that or the system rally is a law unto its self!!! not surprising really

Please refer to earlier posts davsidipp. Thanatos is no longer able to help with individual queries, but has certainly not 'done a runner'. Perhaps if you still have a query, you could start a new thread? I am sure that others will be happy to help.
    Gone ... or have I?

Nope, Thanatos has not done a runner :D, but he has made it clear he is no longer answering questions in this thread due to personal reasons...

Plus, I did actually answer you despite that and your comment about the statute books made little sense so I didnt quiet know what to put in responce to that :)

Anyone know how to close a thread, as people obviously keep missing the fact I am no longer able to answer questions here?

(or if someone with the power to lock a thread reads this please go ahead and do it - thanks in advance!)
