I was only asking for a £2K increase (to £11) - it may even have been only to £1K to £10K when I got turned down - can't quite remember, but it wasn't for £3K in one go.

Person phones & asked specific questions e.g. - 'you did a large bt in May - where did that money go??'

Had to reply... 'Um...eh... don't actually have the details to hand... tell you what.. don't worry about the increase'.. :-X

My anniversay 5 months is up now but wouldn't mind trying to get a bit more by next time. Also, when in my 5 months, I'll get a blue card.. I've heard then that the blue card (with 6 months 0% on purchases) will have a limit to match your green.

Husband started off with £6, waited for 3-4 months increased to £10K
Egg are getting tight, giving only £6 credit limit!! - Sorry, couldnt resist Mary :)

Does anyone know if Egg do a credit search when

    a) applying for a credit increase
    b) applying for a blue card (already having a green card)
  • From the speed at which Egg make their decisions on the above, I would say not.

    a) egg do an 'unrecorded enquiry' when you ask for a limit increase. I saw it on my credit file in May after requesting a couple of increases prior to my anniversary BT. Only you the individual can see these types of searches, other companies can't. For more info, see here

Experian says "An Unrecorded Enquiry is a search that was not made for lending purposes. It will not be seen by any lender but it is included on your credit report so that you are aware that the search was made."

    b) dunno i'm afraid!

I've just upped hubby's limit from £10k to £15k online - fab! Anniversary month (March) here we come!

Also, with my own Egg card, I have had it 18 months and they kept refusing me an increase from £2.5k to £5k for ages until just a few months ago when they did put it up. Strange! But just asked for another £2k and they gave it to me. Great!
    I'm married now! Yippee!

Curious....witnessed a work colleague apply for the first time for an EGG card earlier today and to be given straight away a limit of £15000 !    :o     ( ...made me wonder what he was getting paid!!?!! )

Anyway,...is this the highest limit this card goes to or could he possibly increase it further as described using the egg site on earlier posts here !?

Whats the highest anyone else has achieved if you would be so kind to reveal please!!?

Finally,....he was pondering which and how to stooze from first as he has also applied for the Lloyds Advance card with the 12 months 0% earlier in the day (assuming he gets it of course!) ?!!?

Any guidance on best foot forward using these 2 cards would be appreciated as he has promised to sign up to MSE having told him about the site if he gets a good response here!!   Surprisingly he took it upon himself to stooze from simply noticing the offers out there.   I only told him of this site earlier today and of the term stoozing too so it would be nice to welcome a newbie to mse with the quality info from you all!!   ;)

Would tell him myself, but I dont use either of these 2 cards!!

    Thanks in advance...!

  • Hello Lopo,

From what other posters have said, £15k seems to be the limit with Egg.

As far as I know, the Lloyds Advance card isn't an SBT card so the logical route would be to SBT Egg's £15k to bank account, BT the Egg debt to Lloyds (up to the Advance card credit limit) and then SBT what's then available on Egg to bank account.
  • Lopo,

In answer, £15,000 is the maximum credit limit that Egg currently offers.

Assuming he gets the Lloyds card, he needs to do the following:-

    1. BT entire Lloyds credit limit from Egg card to Lloyds card (although, they may suggest 97% of balance so as to leave some slack).

    2. A week later (hopefully), Egg Card contains a CREDIT amount for this value and Lloyds card now in DEBT for same amount @12 months 0%.

    3. SBT from current account to Egg (i.e. move the Egg CREDIT amount into your current account using the Balance Transfer - Overdraft option on the Egg website - do NOT phone them as this will be seen as unusual given that you're doing a BT when your card is in credit!!).

    4. A couple of days later, do another SBT from current account to Egg, this time to move the £15000 egg credit limit into the current account.

About 3 days after this second transaction, he'll have the 2 lots of stooz sitting in his current account where it can go on into his flexi mortgage or savings account.

That could be because you upped it by £3k. You need to ask online for just £2k each time so that the computer makes the decision instead of a person.

Thanks for this, I just got mine up by 2K woo hoo!!
