Passport countersignature

I need to get my passport renewed, after finding out from the post office that I will have to get a countersignature I contacted my doctor to see if they can sign it for me, they said no, I have now found out my dentist can do it but he charges £40!!! £40 for a signature that's a lot of money is there anyway round this?

it is a renewal UK passport, I went to my post office with my old passport and my pictures and form but they said I looked too different (I don't think I loo that different) I was 16 then now 26, they said if I don't get it signed then the passport office will just send it back to me0

Do you have any friends who have known you a while and are on the list of allowed occupations for people who countersign? It's not just doctors and dentists.0

Nope! I just found my old collage tutor online so I'll ask them, I didn't relise it would be so difficult but i understand why0

Bank officers can countersign it for you, but only if they 'personally know you' i.e do you use a branch regularly and the cashiers knows you from visiting that branch. They also have to have their own passport too - not an easy task I admit.0

My Dad had that fun earlier, well I did really as I was tooing and froming from the post office, as I got it sorted for him as a gift.
