I can't believe it, it is snowing here in Stoke-on-Trent
I thought it felt cold this morning, and they did forecast snow, but I thought that was in ScotlandYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Also wanted to give a quick hug to candy girl as it is so hard. Hope all goes well.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0

Glad it went reasonably well Sibyl.
MSD, I hope you feel better soon.
Hugs to Candy.
I have another lodger, it's official, she's arriving on Monday, it's only for a couple of weeks I think, but the money should mean I can afford Christmas, lol.
Have a great day.
Hugs Hester

MoneysavingDiva - ouch, you poor thing. I hope you start feeling better soon. I fall quite often and it's not nice, is it?
Sybil - your visit with the health visitor sounds positive. Don't feel bad about having a lift to the mother and tots group. As I said yesterday, take every offer of help you can get. Re the antidepressants; I was told years ago that they make you feel worse before they start making you feel better so they are worth carrying on with. I shall now go and look at your blog! Enjoy your knitting - I find it very good for the soul.
Hester - glad you've found a lodger even if it's only temporary.
Well, I just took a lovely stroll up to the local shops; the weather is lovely now after a frosty start. Shame I don't have enough washing for a load.
I've prepped the veg for dinner and peeled lots of red onions which I shall make soup with; I'll add some lentils and sweet potato so it should be quite filling. I need to make some cakes but I'll save that for tomorrow.
See you all later.

Wannabesybil - you sound chirpier than you did yesterday, so that's a good start! Not a bad idea to accept the lift - it's a means to an end after all, and you may well come out of it with a new friend
MSDiva - hope you are feeling a bit less sore. I can remember having to call an ambulance to put my mum back in her chair when she was ill with bone cancer - I couldn't lift her, the district nurse day shift had put their phone onto night, and the night shift hadn't started......she quite enjoyed being "picked up by young men" and said that hadn't happened since she met my dad in 1949!!
HHester - good news about your new lodger, pity its only for a few weeks. Any news about work? (or should I look on the blog?!)
Candygirl - rememebr you've had a really emotional, busy & tiring week preceded by a long draining time while you dad was ill, so don't be trying to do too much. Will PM you later x
Not much OS going on (unless you count using work's leccy to charge my phone & to post this)....ironing mountain has grown to be a full Himalayan range now  so guess what i'm doing tonight?! Have been offered a sewing machine through work's internal notice board, so will be able to start to alter my clothes & save on the charges
See you later...hopefully I will have found where the shiny refurb'd Mr T's have hidden their reductions

Afternoon folks,
Very cold here to-day but no snow thankfully...heat on quite a bit as Ulick really feels the cold since he went on Warfarin, have turned off some of the radiators, so only living room, kitchen and computer rooms are being heated, which leaves us all comfortable enough...have almost half a tank of oil, so will wait until next month to do a top-up, which should last until February and then the next one will last until next winter hopefully...oil has gone down quite a bit here so will hope to pay less than €800 odd I paid for last one.
Icewych...happy birthday:bdaycake:
Hester...set the ground rules from day one!
Diva...please take care and try to rest until the bruises and shock have disappeared.
Snowy...thinking of you.
Sybil...take the help, when you get used to going and enjoying yourselves you won't want to stay away
Wool arrived to-day for scarf and hat I am knitting for DD3's bf for Christmas....not sure if the colours are exactly right but will see how it knits up.
Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to any newbies, congratulations to all who are celebrating, thank you all for being my friends

I don't know if this is a helpful suggestion. It is not one I am currently using during the daytime. But for Meanmarie and those suffering from the cold, I have found that even a single candle in a room with reasonable but not too much draught proofing makes the room feel so much warmer. If you can obtain inexpensive candles (I have found IKEA's excellent value in terms of cost and length of burning) then it may even be a money saving way of warming or topping up the warmth of just a room you are sitting in.
And in the evening it is so much more romantic.
But always use a candle snuffer, as in my opinion it is so much safer.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Afternoon all, isn't it cold?
It is sunny outside but I am wearing 4 jumpers including a sweatshirt for first layer ,jeans,2 pairs of socks and a woolly hat.
LOL.
Yesterday, I went to see my sister in London. Hubby works there and usually motorbikes , but had to drive yesterday due to needing to carry a heavy item (not me) so I was able to get a ride all the way there and back and then just take the tube for the inside london bit. I took pressies from last xmas ()
and she had made us a lovely crotcheted bed spread which we spent ages stuffing into my rucksack to bring home. It looks beautiful on our bed:)
Heating is still off but I dont know if I will manage past November 1st.
Sis lives in a top floor flat and it is toasty there from the heat rising from two flats below.
We have been spending significanlty less on food since the two teens wernt off to uni. They have been gone about 5 weeks and in that time we have only bought 1 chicken instead of 1 every 2 weeks. The loo roll purchases have been slashed too.
Last week a lovely lady on Freecycle offered us a single mattress so we were able to replace DD's ruined one for free(thankfully).
Every little helps at the moment what with xmas just around the corner.
