5% off stamps at Superdrug

What's the deal?

Superdrug is offering 5% off First class stamps from Wed 29 October until 24 December. While it's often just as quick and cheaper to buy Second Class, if you use First Class often anyway, stock up while this offer's on (you can buy up to 72 stamps in one transaction).

What they'll cost at Superdrug:
  • Book of 4 First Class for large letters: £1.98 (Normal price: £2.08)
  • Book of 6 First Class: £2.05 (Normal price: £2.16)
  • Book of 12 First Class: £4.10 (Normal price: £4.32)

Stamps are inflation proof, so stock up

Provided the stamps say "1st" rather than having a cost on them (e.g. 36p) then even when stamp prices go up they're still useable as first class stamps, making them inflation proof! Thus there isn't a problem stocking up on them when you can get them.

Christmas Postage.

If you're sending to friends and family in the UK then make sure you know the last posting dates for Christmas.
  • Standard Parcels and mail order: Monday 15 December
  • Second Class: Thursday 18 December
  • First Class: Saturday 20 December
For last posting dates abroad use the Royal Mail's posting dates search.

  • And to change that 5% to 8% off, register your credit card with cashback site wepromiseto. You will then get 3% cashback every time you use that card in Superdrug (and 5 other stores).

If you get into the debate about Stamps being legal tender, could you not buy these stamps and then spend them, making you 5% better off??

On legal tender - whilst I suspect most shops won't accept it for payment - Post Offices definitely do. So you could use it in the PO - so effectively everything in the PO will be 5% off. The biggest thing I can think of is Road Tax - would be nice to get 5% off that!

There's other things as well - insurance, even broadband; but most of us have a car, and that's a quick win.
  • Or 7% cashback through quidco when you buy from Viking. But you have to buy by the 100 (or 50 Large letter). I have tried it and the whole amount has been validated.
  • Well i have about 250 1st class stamps. So i could use them to pay for my road tax? Thats a great idea if i could

Was this recently? And was it the only item in your order? The site currently has conditions attached to the purchase of stamps:
    • Stamps can only be ordered as an additional item to your orders. They cannot be ordered as a stand alone item.
    • Stamps are also exempt from any reward/loyalty programmes
This would indicate that it may not work now.
  • The stamps from viking were part of an order. I did wonder if they would be exempt, but they tracked & validated very quickly. This order was on the 16th October. Viking are quick at validating but slow at paying. Payment is marked for January. Its worth a try if you need to order other goods.
