Boiler Insurance

I hope somebody can help.....my new (2006) boiler has broken down and I do not have any insurance.
I have had 2 plumbers round and both have quoted about £700 and both have suggested different parts need replacing.
Is there any way to claim on home and contents?
Or are there any Boiler Insurance packages where I can start it now and claim almost immediately (the cheeky option)?
I hope someone can help as its starting to get cold!!!!
thanks

No. Your boiler has neither been stolen or damaged by external events.Or are there any Boiler Insurance packages where I can start it now and claim almost immediately (the cheeky option)?
Yes there is. British Gas will do it but you pay a higher premium for 12 months (and minimum term is 12 months). However, I would suggest keeping it going as its cheap after the 12 months, you get an annual service and in the 4 years I have had mine, they have replaced bits each year and I am very impressed with the service.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Sounds good - but are you sure they would fix our boiler if it is already broken when I take out the policy?0

They fixed mine straight away. I just had to commit to 12 months at a higher price (only about £120 more over the year).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). ...sorry, so do I tell them first or do I need to commit to a particular plan to ensure it will be covered??
(many thanks for the help so far btw)0 -
Try going on to N powers website, I think they do a fixed price repair fee with several different options. Good luck!0

Excellent - thanks again - I have been on Uswitch who also suggest a few more....my only issue is that I don't want to take out the cover and then find that they won't repair my already-broken boiler...
any thoughts??0 -
As I said, they did with me. I told them up front and they agreed to offer terms. I suggest you do the same.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If the boiler is only 2 years old there is no reason why BG or others will not take on the repair of your boiler as dunstonh suggests.0

You could also check that the manufacturers of the boiler give you anymore than the standard 1 year guarantee, my mum & dad have just had a new one fitted with a 5 year guarantee !0

Well - no good with British Gas, I explained that there might be a small fault and they said that this would not be covered....what am I doing wrong??
I am calling Glow worm to see if its still under warranty but if npower and Southern elec say the same as Brit Gas then I am struggling...
any more ideas?? anyone?0
