Hello to everyone, once again, sorry I don't manage to keep up with this thread. I have chopped and changed my grocery spends so much that it's hard trying to stick to a budget when stockpiling is sporadic, depending on when I get to a town with a major supermarket. My original budget was for £1200 over a year with the hope of cutting it to £1098 (£1 per person, per day), however that is not to be, as per my signature. My average is running at £23.94 per week and that's for 3 adults and includes all groceries, toiletries, laundry and cleaning products, so I don't think that's too bad. Moving house hasn't helped, as it meant losing a percentage of what was still growing in the garden - leeks, onions, potatoes, beetroot - and having to practically empty the freezer. I'm hoping that there won't be any interuptions in 2009, as this is the second year in a row we've had a house move to incorporate.

If I'm to come in on original budget of £1200 for 2008, then I have a budget of only £78.03 to last me until 2009. I have already paid for the turkey, topped up the stockpile and filled the freezer this month but have a few more items still to get this coming week.

I'll set myself a target of £50 for December, so I have enough left to pay for the remaining stockpile top-up. :D

This is how my grocery spending diary looks at the moment:

    GROCERIES
    Jan 2008 - £86.09
    Feb 2008 - £103.68
    Mar 2008 - £99.52
    Apr 2008 - £97.05
May 2008 - £264.78 (includes main stockpile shopping)
    Jun 2008 - £75.65
    Jul 2008 - £47.93
    Aug 2008 - £67.05
    Sep 2008 - £87.22
    Oct 2008 - £67.95
Nov 2008 - £125.05 (topping up after moving house)
    TOTAL FOR GROCERIES £1121.97

Thank goodness winter's here - homemade soup is such a frugal dish! :rotfl:

PS: I only need to shave an average of £2.94 per week off my budget next year to cut it down to £1 per person per day and I think that's possible if the self-sufficientish project goes according to plan. :D
I reserve the right not to spend.

You're an inspiration nyk :T I'm off to check up on your original thread, I lost track of it a while back. If I could live on £1 a day, that would about a third of what I'm spending now, even with the GC keeping me on my toes :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Spent £14.75 in Iceland on Fri even tho I was hoping for a NSD as I had to pop in there with a firend. Added it to my total and only one week to go-under budget again this week! I now have approx £92 for next week so this budget has been fairly accurate-I wont bring it down for ~December as with Christmas that would be a bit daft I think.
Next year I shall do things differently and I will have a larger budget as I will include lots of stuff into it that have been separate this year. I will have a spreadsheet covering a whole year for the info I need. I plant to have a general grocery budget and the "other" budget which combined will contain all of this years outgoings at this years prices. If I manage to come in under next year then I will have no doubt cut back as things are rising so fast.
No grocery shopping today but went to Homebase to get antifreeze deicer, karcher cleaner and a hedgecutter. Went to Argos for a new electric blanket for dd. I MUST put the receipt in the bag and put it in the loft tho as it has a 3 yr guarantee and I can never find the receipts when the appliances fail! Had a really disorganised day as I felt too cold to do anything but I did list my good stuff on ebay last night that is too tight for me!
Treated myself to some "new" clothes yesterday from the charity shops-new suede jacket at £6.99 new trousers, £8.75,£4.00 and £4.49. So if I can get that back now via ebay Ive spent nowt. This stuff has been sitting in the wardrobe for 2 years while I lose weight! no-its just not happening!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

BIG HUGS, MUCH LOVE AND YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS XXXXXXX

well I had Mr T deliver today which has well and truly blown the budget for November BUT the majority of what I bought is for christmas so should mean that very little needs to be spent next month.

Im a bit disapointed with Mr T though - not only did the driver comment twice on how much shopping I had which I thought was a bit rude - (i spent £175 after discounts had been applied) but instead of the 1 litre baileys, I was supplied with the more expensive 70 cl which I refused.

I was also sold a packet of market value peppers - but the packet contained 2 1/2 peppers? (one pepper had been chopped in half) (phone call made and refund to be issued)

Also despite my commenting - no substitutes on some items or sub for offer, they obviously didnt pay attention when my shopping was being picked and so I have probably been charged a few quid more than I should have been.

There was too much shopping really to be able to identify those items I didnt want and I think tesco should perhaps tag the bags with the substituted items in.

I did manage to get all my xmas wine though and take advantage of the 25% off :D

my mrT will put substitutes in a tesco bag inside out, i ask for no bags (so i get the green points) so can spot any subsitutes. i think thats what they are meant to do so you can see quickly what has been substituted and send back what you dont want.
