I have just found Dixons are selling a Sony Bravia 37" LCD for £219.99 - It is fine except that the volume button doesn't work on the remote control. But at that price you can't turn it down!0

For those who have this, is it good enough to be the main TV in the house? Looking for a budget flat screen and I love the look of this.Sigless0

I suppose it depends on what you are used to.
Prior to this one I had a 24in fatback non widescreen fossil, so it's good enough to be my main (only) tv0 -
Glad you didn't have any prob's with yours, Fern Merkin
My replacment arrived a short while ago, and I'm currently using it to access the web as I type this. The high pitched tone is not present in the replacement thankfully! :T
Strangely though, the high pitched whine actually stopped yesterday on the telly tht's just been sent back!?I hope Hannspree don't think I'm playing some silly game when they check the TV out and cannot find the reported problem. Even though the sound had vanished, I still reckon it was only temporary, and could have returned as easily as it went away.
Does anyone think this will effect my warranty? Could they even try billing me for sending back a TV that is (now) apparently OK?
@Rev: I reckon this telly would be great as a main TV. It is not wall mountable though, which didn't bother me. Also, the styling is quite different than most flat panel TV's, so you better be sure you can live with it. Personally I love the look of the telly.
I lived with a tiny 17" WS Mikomi LCD for the past few years, so the Hannspree is literally a HUGE jump up from my old telly. The Mikomi has been a very solid and reliable telly these past few years though, and not a single dead pixel in all that time.
EDIT: Just removed the speakers, and because of the design of the fixings, they tore a chunk off the thick black rubber edging of the speaker! NOT good!! :mad:0 -
Odered on Sunday night and came yesterday.
Easy to set up (thanks pet) and looks good to me at this price.0 -
I cannot in all good conscience recommend this TV. Please see my initial post as to why.
