  • I can highly recomment PIP Security too. Excellent service, very quick & tidy job done at a good price.

I have had a wired system from a well known company for quite a few yrs. Got fed up paying monitoring costs and quit them, so if alarm activated, it is no longer monitored. Am now thinking of getting system adapted with a dialler to call myself or nominated numbers in event of an activation. Would really appreciate personal recommendations from any others who have experience of adapting systems which were originally "monitored" to this type, and can recommend someone trustworthy.

That would depend on you having the "Engineer" code. If you have it it is no big deal to add a dialler, either wired or sim card.

I've merged this with the existing thread on burglar alarms to keep all the info together :)

Thanks dmxdave. I have found a code which I had marked "Engineer", and which was given to me by the Alarm Co. when I spoke to them about how to re-set my alarm when there was a power failure. As this was several years ago, I am a bit reluctant to try it out now. In any case I would still welcome personal recommendations for a reliable and trustworthy person to do a conversion for me.
