Stupid question about Irish Sea

I did the trip last month & it was pretty rough. The Irish Ferries Swift was cancelled & the cruise ferry was delayed due to bad weather.
In the past 12months I've done the Stena HSS at the end of November - fine, P&O in December - fine and Norfolk line in Janaury - also fine. It seems to be the luck of the draw as far as the weather is concerned.
My tip for sea-sickness is to stick plasters behind your ears. Yes, really! The theory is that you cover up the body's balance mechanism which is in your ears so that it doesn't know that you are off balance. It works every time for me - it may be entirely psychological but I don't care. In fact, the comments above are entirely related as to whether I had the aforementioned plasters behind my ears or not.0 -

Hiya, I just came back from Ireland, both ways were by Irish Ferries, Pembroke to Rosslare. Took about 4hrs each way & was fine & this was 26th & 31st Oct. I find if i'm sitting down & not looking at the waves i'm fine, it's only if I walk about alot I feel sick, but that's cause then you get all the motion. Stay sitting! Next time I might book a cabin & be lazy & sleep lmao i'm sure you'll be fine!0

I wa speaking to an Irish ferries manager today - very interesting fact about Ulaysess the Irish ferries monster ferry - it has not missed a single ferry crossing due to bad weather since being put into service back in 2001.0

I was always sick on the ferry but found if I stood outside looking ahead in the direction we were going and got a bit of air round me it helped. Not so good if its raining cats and dogs, in that case you may just get drunk!!!
Just to let you know that Northern Ireland is currently experiencing a home heating oil crisis due to so many ferry sailings being cancelled!!
Just book a flight and hire a car, so much easier and Ryanair do such cheap flights!!0 -
This has probably been put back now anyway which was a shame. On Monday we where getting it sorted, but found out something which has put in back to January maybe. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

In that case def check out ryanair flights, I was looking for Jan flight from Belfast to London and could travel (with handluggage, online check in etc) for £1 each way. Even with car hire its going to be cheaper than ferry and petrol costs!0
