toots Think I may join you on the no sweets/chocolate thing. I shouldnt eat them anyway but chocolate is my downfall. I did get better and the cravings lessened when I did the tappng therapy but have not done that for a while.

Lil-me - never doubt the power of the magic 8 ball or go against its advice :rotfl:
Pigpen - just think of your electricity bill next time you have the urge to do so much ironing - that's my excuse for not doing it anyway!
    Valli - enjoy the party!
Dusty - ahh, Dolly Parton - I admire her greatly she's got a terrific sense of humour.

Well, I've lazed about researching and writing most of the day. The hairdresser's been and gone and I'm all nicely quoiffed and blow dried. Shame it'll look like a haystack again when I get up tomorrow morning!

The rain has not stopped since just before lunchtime. Lots of it. A guttering seems to be overflowing somewhere and all I can hear is water thudding down on the little plastic greenhouse thing I have in the side yard. Mental note: shift it when it's not raining. I ain't going up a ladder to sort out the guttering! One good thing, at least any oiks that were planning to let off fireworks in the park at the bottom of the garden will find all they have are damp squibs. Shame about any organised displays tonight - I don't think anyone's going anywhere!

Lamb chops for tea tonight - yum yum!

    Hello all.

Welcome newbies, hugs to those in need, happy November to those who are ready for it!!

Nothing done this week. This morning I folded washing from last Tuesday!! plus towels from yesterday. I have two loads ready to hang out, but not sure if it's going to rain or not.

Did end of month accounts last night and have spent a half hour on finances this morning. Still more to go.

I also have work again today - 10-5 so I need to shower and hair wash yet.

Will hopefully be in a bit more this coming week - certainly need to be.

RANT*** Was in tears yesterday because of kids. School reports came home - so many 'not achieved' that it's heartbreaking. One is in his last year of school - the other is 5th form. I really don't know what to do. Both are bright, just no motivation. Happily spend all their time playing WOW on computer. We tend to think this is the majority of the problem. Shall I pull them from their computers totally??? And TV, cos if they're not on computers they are in front of TV??? School ends for them in two weeks, then they have a weeks study leave, then exams start . . . We have obviously been useless parents . . . . no consistency . . . .

Greenbee - the stuff I have only ever gets one asker - but I freecycle oddities! See who can collect first but have someone in reserve...
    I wanted to ask you something...and Lil_me
oh I know - I have a DVD player 'spare' the type you can get for under £30 now (ours cost over £200 and doesn't even record) I was going to offer it to a women's refuge either for use there or when they are supporting someone in a new place...but I don't know how. They keep theirn locations secret, for obvious reasons...I figure one of you two could help. I don't want to freecycle it because I don't want it to end up on a car boot I would rather give it someone in need/crisis IYSWIM

Well, we're back from our trip to Selby, was fab to have a good night in with some friends...and beat them all at Soul Calibur. Denise, I think this is a boy thing. My little brother (now a GP) really didn't work at school... until about a month before his A levels when he decided he wanted to be a doctor  He didn't get his grades, so had to talk his way into medical school, and has worked hard ever since. I get the impression that this isn't uncommon - girls will work for the sake of doing the piece of work in front of them well, but boys need to be motivated by something bigger than that. Do either of them have any ambitions that might make them think about working hard to achieve them?
  • denizenz - hugs honey - after a busy week that was all you needed! What about a compromise - must do an hour's homework/study for an hour on the pc/tv? And they have to prove what they have done - ask them questions or they show you the essay or whatever and if they dont pull up their socks then tell them thats it 'no more pc games' and no pc if they dont pass their exams??? And you are not useless parents for goodness sake - you are both working hard to give them a proper home life - you cant force them to work - with some teenagers they will just rebel for the hell of it!
    toots xx
