So sorry that I didn't make it, have been in hospital will my little one for the last week and a half 'cos he's had pneumonia and various complications.
Hope you all a great time!
It sounds like you all had a blast, hope I can make it next time I'm determined to get out of the county at least once this year!0 -
Tibbie's mum, hope your litte one recovers well soon, best wishes!
Sorry if it took me so long to post, it has been a truly grand weekend.
Thanks to all who came, you are great people and I really enjoyed meeting you all! Thank you very much especially to Savingforoz for organising it!
The very speciallest thanks from me though goes to Fran, for her lovely hospitality in the green hills of Wales, a comfy bed (best sleep I had in AGES!) and great company!
On Sunday lunchtime I caught the train back to Bristol and made a beeline for the Slow Food Market, where I found an Italian lady who has a food stall, so I got chatting with her and she sold me an extra-large slice of broccoli lasagne, the best I have ever tasted! She also sold me (at a discount!) 2 jars of Italian honey (Chestnut and Rapeseed) - Yummy!
I bought the Observer because there was a magazine about living cheaply etc (I texted a few ppl about it, hope you got it because it has loads of really interesting info!).
Afterwards I popped into a cafe/bar/community centre thingy (like a student place I think, forgot the name) where loads of young people had stalls and I bought a fab summer dress for DD for £1 (she loves it!)
Then I went for a walk in the sunshine and caught the round-trip ferry around the canals (very nice!), then I went for a walk around the canals and ended up at the Bordeaux Quay where they were selling their bakery loaves 2 for 1, which of course I bought to take back home (2 Campagne and 2 Spelt).
I had a brief exchange of texts with Savingforoz but unfortunately we did not co-ordinate the time so we did not manage to meet up - will have to save it for next time!
On my way back to the station I even managed a quick visit to the Cathedral!
Overall I had a lovely time both days and really looking forward to the next one.
I saw on some leaflet that on 6 and 7th June there is a Festival of Nature, that would be a good one to visit! Picnic also sounds GREAT IDEA!
Bye all, will post on the OS forum about a meet in London soon, catch up then!
Love to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Such a shame - I was next dooor to the Cathedral, in the City Library (got a fab book on home breadmaking) - but had my mobile turned off because I was in the library! Oh, well! Glad you had a good weekend, I think we all enjoyed it!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Hi OS Friends :hello: ,
SO nice to meet you on Saturday. Lovely day out and made a really nice change. DH commented on how happy I was when he picked me up, said I was more like my old self, so thank you all for cheering me up!
Thanks for the text Caterina, I did recieve it, but not in time to go get the paper, and sorry I missed the Market (our dinner with the SIL's & partners ended up a VERY late night drinking loads of wine and chatting, so I had a serious lie-in on Sunday!!!). Glad you enjoyed yourself on Sunday and saw a bit more of Bristol. Would love to know where the 'cafe/bar/community centre thingy' is - see you 'furriners' can tell us locals a few things about our city!
Moggins - I've not caught up on the Daily thread yet, but sounds like you had fun on your night out.......
Savingforoz - I broached the subject of more furrybabies with DH, but as suspected he was 'not amused' so I think I need to work on him a bit more!
Fran - I was talking to DH re the parking probs, and he says that if we do it again, we could sort out parking on the outskirts and he'll happily ferry a group of us into town (as you saw, he has a people-carrier!) - Bless him!
Sue - hope your auction went well and you raised loads of dosh.
Mummysaver - hope you enjoyed your next Wetherspoons of the day!
Good news is my car-mechanic-friend says the brake problem is what we thought, and he will fix it for me on Weds, AND we got another appt through from the Clinic for a couple weeks time....so I guess that I'm going to be off the booze again for a while (after this weekend, probably a good thing!!!).
Picnic on Brean Beach sounds great - we did a w/e camping there last year and had a BBQ on the beach, it was great fun. Maybe we could have an MSE/OS camping trip???
Actually - Frugalista's 'neck of the woods' has loads of lovely (& reasonable £) campsites if I worked out correctly where she is.... Just a couple of ideas for the future...
(((HUGS))) all around!

Something like that would be brilliant - we are still reeling from the £9 parking fee  - serves us right for talking for so long and going over our 4 hours.
