OS Daily Thread - Sunday 26th October

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Sunday 26th October . It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.
Morning all!
Well, my Saturday (what was left of it when I finally got up again after going to bed at 0630...) was a bit of a wash out. The garage were supposed to bring back our car today but apparently a 'warning' light came on when they went to drive it so they have had to keep it. This means we still have the hire car and I can't really get into that without being in pain. So, stayed in and we did an inventory of all the food in the house instead!
So now I can be sure what we have and plan some recipes around it. Roast dinner for tomorrow though with the M & S chicken. Was fun emptying the fridge - some rather old jars with 'scrapings' of things in, went straight into the recycling (once washed of course). No out of date food though, we have been really good since we started OS-ing.
Squiggly - Ohhh the cheesecake was fabulous... dreamy and delicious and delightful. Lasted us 4 days and we are big piggies! And the base stayed crispy right thru to the end
MrsM - hope you feel better soon!
Blairweech - I would love to have a go at sausages but not sure how feasible it would be. We are going to try some good sausages from the butchers and just keep trying til we find some we love. (I love Buckfast Abbey btw. . and the Buckfast Butterfly and Otter Farm - I live near Exeter so been to both places a few times)
Triggles - I was given a tart warmer and I do find that they last forever and I swap them around quite a lot, but I love the jar candles cos I feel they are the safest to burn. (Just ordered the one time only 6 small jar candles from QVC and my reason/excuse is that I will give at least 3 away as Christmas prezzies
:rotfl: :rotfl: )
Snowy - I am keeping my fingers crossed for poor Dylan. Big hug for you... I like the car fresheners from YC too, had the Sea&Sand one last and it smelt gorgeous. (It was the card type but the smell has really lasted well)
Glad - I like plain pork but I am rather fond of anything with chillis in, so I guess my OH and I could compromise if we find some.. hope you enjoyed your sausage lunch!!!
Candygirl - glad the funeral went well honey *hugs* to you and yours
Donnygal - ooh thank you for the link, they look great
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day! Didn't have to put my puter clock back, it seems to have done it automatically! It's nearly 0400 now but it says 0300.
to anyone who needs them and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today!

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Morning.
I hate this clocks go back thing as I wake up even earlier now. I suppose it's great for most especially those that went to the 40th birthday party I went to last night as they can have an extra hour of hangover. Top quality food and drink anyway.
There was a lot left over and I think if I had stayed to the end then a doggy bag would have been usefull.
The karaoke was just too much for me and so we left at 11. Some were good, some were awful and some were just plain crude.....
Working soon for the day, although I have little motivation. Weekends are pointless to do routine work as most of the officers and people I need to liase with are not working.
Not sure what food there will be today, the cupboards are a little bare.... Need to go shopping.
My fishing trip was great on Friday, the seas were a bit rough to begin with but clamed down later. Not too much fish for the freezer, but we did get some nice cod, pollack and ling between us.
Well folks have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
morning all:j
Well the clocks back thing didn`t quite go as planned:rolleyes: . I stayed up late to watch that Phil Spector thing last night, one of my heroes(well 11.30...late for me am usually in bed by 10:o ) thinking that as clock were going back it was really 10 30 when we went to bed.
However DS up at whats now 4.30 instead of his usual 5.30:eek:
So long day ahead!!!
Just having a coffee then may go and do some buns/cookies as never got round to it yesterday.
Did get the Smoked fish pie made and it was fab:D
having belly pork roast dinner today earlier than usual as we are taking DS to fright night at 4pm. its in the city centre and there are rides etc and halloween stuff going on.....going early as it gets busy later and he doesnt cope with that.....he is going as a skeleton.
Did an inventory of freezer the other day so can meal plan to use it up and get freezer cleared for Christmas. Am going to start getting packs of meat delivered from butcher to stock freezer when I find a butcher who delivers:rolleyes:
Yankee Candles....Oooooh I love those...esp at christmas but they are expensive...last for ages though:D
Have a good day everyone

Morning,
Diva, glad the cheesecake was goodYou've reminded me I must give my fridge a good clean-out as well. My DD's always seem to be complaining we have no food, yet there are numerous bowls in there now with leftovers that have been left too long to be safe to eat.
N9eav & NPM - mmm, fish & fish pie, I must make one of those again. I lurve fish pieEspecially when it's got bits of prawns & chunks of hardboiled egg in too (sounds gross but isn't!)
Other than cleaning fridge out, and also sweeping/mopping kitchen floor, not doing loads of jobs as I HAVE to dedicate today to writing Uni stuff. Need to make some rocky road, or cookies or something for DD's to take to school in the week too. Dinner will be HM meatballs (or something quick & simple).
(((((((hugs)))))) for all those needing them, and hope those feeling poorly (human & pet) feel better soon.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -

Morning
My extra hours lie in was cut short by DD's arguing!!
There's no point in going back to bed now tho cos they've got a party at 9.30.
We're going for lunch at friends house and then I'm peeling a million left over potato's to cook off and freeze this afternoon. Also need to go shopping and bake as never did it yesterday.
Hope everyone has a great relaxed Sunday

Morning all,
Up with the sparrows this morning. Its a bit chilly, but am under the duvet on the sofa, will get up in a minute and put on a dressing gown, make some tea and a bagel. Unload the dishy, and make some lunch. I am off to see my S dad who is just out of hospital, so was going to make a fish pie, but couldnt find the fish I thought I had in the freezer so it will have to be a cottage pie instead.
Still trying to sell the house, had two viewings yesterday, fingers crossed for some good news tomorrow.
Hugs to those that need them.
Will be popping in to waitrose before they close to see if I can get some bargains.
Have a good day everyone.Pawpurrs x0 -
Another early riser here - someone forgot to tell dgs(3) about the clocks
I have been informed that our plans today are to visit a shark but he's accepted that that might be a bit dangerous so he's going to watch priates for the umpteenth time while I catch up with my flyladying. Tea tonight will be something orange from the freezer - when will I ever learn to label. dd(12) calls freezer weeks Freezer Roulette LOL.
hmm - I'm feeling inspired by squiggly to do some baking too - will see if there's something me and dgs can do together
hve a good day allI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

All pressies wrapped and b/day bunting, balloons, banners hung up. I hate balloons!!
