Look at health cabin for the cheapest cartomizers ect... they come str8 from china and take around 20 days to arrive if you go for the cheaper air mail option. If your ordering enough to make it worthwhile.. say extra for a friend or just enough stock to see your through the entire year. Your looking at about half of the price your paying there for the exact same thing. The only difference between them... Health cabin are even cheaper still, for the exact same thing.

I've ordered from them twice. Gr8 service.. no problems. Just a little wait.

    Cut out the middle men.

Jami, I was one of the first to buy from Health Cabin, way back when they started selling on eBay. Since then (over 3 years ago), I've arranged group orders to cut down on the postage costs & we now have a member of All About E-Cigarettes that kindly arranges group orders from them on a regular basis :)

I now vape on the Megalodon...

That's the kind of thing I meant when I referred to a "big battery mod". But if Lizard-Borys says "89mm" I assume they mean a cig-alike model - a Don would be a huge leap of faith and finance for a dubious newbie.

It's so difficult to recommend a cig-alike because they just don't perform as well as bigger models, although a few users I know do get on with a Titan.

One very newbie bought a Riva 1100 kit and an SD Keyring and she was very impressed with them both - which just goes to show what a little power-house the SDK is, considering its diminutive size, but the battery needs charging much more frequently of course.

I'm trawling AllAbout trying to find a recently acquired cig-alike to recommend.
  • The following may be of help to those wanting an idea of the running costs of a GOOD E-cig against smoking cigarettes.

*Please note this is only to give you an idea of running costs based on my vaping experience of over 2 years :) Your costs may vary.......

Below is based on someone smoking 15-20 JPS Blue cigarettes bought from a supermarket.

As to the ongoing costs of running a E-cig, I use 2 x kanger Cartomisers (from Vape Escape) a week and e-liquid from Vape escape again or from Paradise Vapes as a ex 20 a day man myself I probably vape 1 to 2ml a day therefore about 10 ml* per week. So in true MSE style let's do the math!

Your cost at the moment: say £5.60 per pack of ciggies say 120 per week = 6 packs = £33.60 a week shocked.gif

    Vs Vaping

    15 ml* of E-liquid a week £8.00 (inc p& p from Paradise Vapes)
    2 x cartomisers a week* (£8 per 5 inc p&p) = £3.20
Not inluded in the above is any discount/special offer (at least 10%)
TOTAL £10.20 a week and I have over estimated the amount of liquid used!

    Over 4 weeks

    Ciggies £39 x 4 = £134.40
    vaping £10.20 x 4 = £40.80

So you will save over £90 in less than a month!

Now, not included in the above is whichever e-cig you choose but you don't have to keep buying a new one each week (unless you get the buy shiny things bug)
So even if you spend £40 on a Riva kit or £30 on 2 x SD Keyring kits and then stick with that, i'd reckon on a years use out of the Riva and 6 months on the SD keyring you will still be saving £££! once your initial purchase has been made. (Payback for you less than a month*)

How does a saving of £1,000 a year sound*

    caveats:
(price of ciggies checked @ mysupermarket)
(amount of e-juice used slightly over estimated to allow for wasteage)
(I use 2 kangers a week so have based on that some use more some use less)
    (*Des's rule of thumb applied)

If you want to know more Google "All About E-Cigrettes on Proboards", pop in and say Hi in the newbies section, I guarantee you will not be ignored or derided for any questions you may have :D

Has anyone got reccomendations of a DECENT ecig? Not one I will think is pants chuck in the drawer and never to use again?

I *need* to stop smoking, not only because of the £££, but I am smoking 25 cigs a day (purely through habit not addiction) and I have to quit before surgery in 3months, otherwise I could get necrosis

    Help please :)

The problem is that newbies nearly always want a "cig-alike" model (and who can blame them in their innocence?) and cig-alikes are too small to hold a decent battery. However, here is one currently selling at a reduced price, which makes it a great starter kit:

    http://www.safercigs.co.uk/Intro_Vapour_PRO/p705283_4307948.aspx

Add in the extra 5 cartos for £5.
    Plus a bottle of e-liquid.
    Plus a drip-tip.

    All available from Safercigs.

When you have your gear (if not before) come to http://allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newmembers and enjoy the company and assistance :)

If you are willing to go for a "cigar-alike" model (size-wise), all the better, we'll find the current best buy.

Buttonmoons, come on over to the all about e-cigarettes board here http://allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newmembers we'll help you in a nice friendly non condescending manner.

You will see others on there that are in the same position as you and have just started and others like me ;) who have been using e-cigs for years and will help you avoid some of the pitfalls that a newbie can get into. :D
Thank you Des, I will join later on today when I have some time spare.

Im not too bothered about a small cig look a like, I remember tooting on a French guys Ecig that was massively long outside a club and was shocked at how "fag like" it was.
  • For anyone wanting to get started with a cig-alike style electronic cigarette, I have just received news that The Electronic Cigarette Company (TECC) have reduced their 1-battery Titan kit to £12.50 plus delivery. This kit includes a small bottle of juice. I strongly advise purchasing TWO kits, then you'll have 2 batteries and 2 atomisers and plenty of juice and spare cartridges to keep you going long enough to get in good practice.

There's a video tutorial if you scroll down on this page:

    http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/products/starter-kits/titan/titan-510-compact-kit-just-2499-product.html

Once you've got started, investigate cartomisers to replace the cartridges, and more juice, and a lip-friendly drip-tip :) ... and if you like the model and don't want to change up, also investigate a "PCC", which is a charging kit you can carry around with you.

If you aren't bothered about it being a ciggie look alike, then I really would recommend a Riva

As would I, but I ran out of steam :p I did mention "cigar-alike" though in an earlier post.

Folks, please remember when you're thinking of trying an e-cig - why worry about having to throw it in the bin when your money is currently going up in smoke? Just put your "willing" hat on and give it a try :)

We all start out like that, Lotus - when I started cig-alikes were the only choice - looking back, it seems even more of a miracle than it did at the time that those little weaklings got me off 50+ fags a day :p

A great starter these days (though even smaller than a cig-alike but better performance) would be TWO of these and a bottle, or "pick 'n mix" selection, of juice (e-liquid for refilling cartos) [edit = and a "drip-tip" for a nice comfy mouthpiece]:

    http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Basic+Vaping+Kits+%3E+SD+KeyRing+Ecig

Go on fsdss, tell yourself what I did: "nothing to lose but money" - and it's currently going up in smoke ;)

Hope you don't mind a couple of quick questions,I have been on elights for a couple of weeks and getting on fine but would like to cut costs if I can, the keyring looks great but filling with juice sounds fiddily and how long do the cartos last once filled?, also are the people who have been on ecigs quite a while still having the nicotine?
