I've just ordered a protank mini 2. Silly me didn't see the site had them on pre order so I'll be waiting 3 weeks for it :o

My brother has a protank mini 1 and thinks its brilliant. Said the juices taste a million times nicer. From what I've read you can clean the tank out with water and you just buy replacement coils when they burn out. The coil in my brothers lasted weeks before he had to change it, winner.

I ordered 2 650 batteries too (prefer the smaller battery) which were sent out yesterday and arrived this morning :T

I ordered from a site called vapor-z if anyone is interested and used code CYLEX for money off.
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.
  • Great I've put my order in and now will just keep everything crossed it arrives before bank holiday weekend :)

LT often includes a wee surprise, like a phial of flavouring or something.

Can I ask the advice of people in this thread, please?

I'm tasked with finding a decent e-cig for a disabled gentleman (very heavy smoker) to try. It should be the kind that looks like a cig and emits vapour but not a refillable type, just one that can be used for x amount of time and then disposed of. It needs to be simple and straight forward to operate (hence the reason for avoiding the refillable types). The gentleman in question often smokes 3 packs of normal cigs a day, so the hope is that both health and money could be saved.

So, which brands are decent and widely available? I've only seen them for sale in Home Bargains and I wasn't too confident to experiment. I don't want to initiate a change that isn't sustainable.....in other words I want to know that he will be able to easily purchase what I suggest to him going forward.

    Any ideas?

A brand which I think fit your wants are V2 cigs. Their standard model uses cartomisers, which basically combine a pre-filled cartridge with an atomiser in to a single inexpensive and disposable part. You just screw it on to a battery (rechargeable) and use it until empty. It's minimal work, everything is designed to work together well and ready to go, plus I find them reliable. They're roughly cigarette sized and produce plenty of vapor. Taste is subjective, but there's a few different flavours.

Other companies make similar models, but this is the one I know best.

Also, whatever you buy, I think ordering a selection of different flavours in different nicotine strengths is a good idea.

A potential issue for many older people is that a lot of this stuff is online, so unless he's going to order online, I would suggest ordering from whoever you choose by the method (telephone, post) that he would be relying on to see how straightforward it is.

The only problem I found with a look-a-like e-cig is that it just wasn't very good! I tried the e-lite you can buy in supermarkets. It would work one minute, then nothing the next, then a huge puff on the next drag. Very disappointing and not enough to make me want to switch full time.

Then I got an SD Maxi keyring, like this:

    http://www.cavecom.com/screwdriverSD/shopSD/sdkeyringmaxi.shtml

I found it absolutely brilliant and still use it every day, despite also using the refillable e-cigs too. The SD Keyring uses pre-filled "cartomisers" which are equivalent to about 30 cigs each. If you buy 20 cartomisers at a time, they work out at about £1 each - so much cheaper than cigs! No re-filling necessary. When a carto is empty, just unscrew it and screw in another one.

The silver part is the battery, which is rechargeable. The black part is the cartomiser which contains the e-juice.

With your friend's consumption, I would thoroughly recommend buying two sets, so one battery can be on charge while they are using the other one. Just having one battery risks being without a device for about 3 hours while the battery charges!

PS if your friend did change his mind about using refillable e-cigs, there are some very nice, basic ones available and he can buy juice at a higher nicotine level, which may satisfy his "needs" more, if he's smoking 90 a day at the moment. Most vendors sell juice up to 36mg strength (I was a 25 a day smoker and am happy on 18mg juice).

As the poster above said, this does rely on your friend being able to order cartridges online.

With fasttech, expect to get it about 2 - 2.5 weeks after ordering. Our last one took about 18 days. The tracker had said it was in the UK about 8 days before it arrived!

"heard" where? And "white bits" is a bit vague don't you think? What kind of doctor describes matter in an organ as "white bits"??! Until it's proved that those "white bits" are more dangerous than the "black bits" of tar, I'll carry on vaping, thanks very much LOL!

Yes its vague, "heard" from i woman i grew up with, she has white bits in her lungs. Maybe she has been using some contaminated oils, or maybe its water on the lungs, i dunno but it concerned me. Its true, there is white bits in her lungs.

  • TBH white bits in my lungs is the last thing I have to worry about large black areas high blood pressure and family history of cancer never stopped me smoking. My aunt passed away at 60 a non smoker of lung cancer???they said because she was very into socialising the second hand smoke played a major part??I'm 37 and live for today but would really like to see the kids grown up and happy I know I won't live forever but if swapping gave me 10 years I'd see that as brilliant.Life is a lottery and I like to see it as enjoy what you get.My partner has heart and bp trouble. He had his heart attack at 40 and at 48 his bp is uncontrollable but his father died at 40 from a heart attack(didn't find out until a few years in)so every little that you know and do to help is great but we're all still in the lottery of "you could get run over by a bus tomorrow"so we've swapped to vaping and if there are health issues they really can't be any worse than "real ciggies"their linked to just about everything from birth defects to early death!!enjoy life while you have it my father was a non smoker non drinker who saved for his retirement he died of a brain tumour at 56 and didn't get to enjoy that retirement so make the most of life :)
