naturally matured unsalted butter is my favourite but I don`t buy so much now as my dh spreads it too thickly

we also love good extra virgin olive oil in a little bowl for dipping

I cook with olive oil and have just started experimenting with flora buttery as it was on special offer. Quite good results so far and am happy to be using it as it is made from seed oils

I must try that alpine butter adsk, but I`ll wait for a sunny day as it will be a round trip of 26 miles and we`ll make a half day of it on our bikes
  • Love the pale unsalted types, particularly president, unfortunately thats a luxury these days so I stick to Mr T's special offers.

But I do like making butter from ooops and yellow stickered double cream, makes a wicked cheese or white sauce !

    I just know I like it. :D

  • Lurpak lighter is what I buy even though the price has risen quite a lot in recent months .I won't compromise on butter or washing up liquid (Fairy)Just what you get used to I suppose .I usually use Stork margarine in Baking though and half marg/half lard when making pastry.

Yeo Valley Organic when I am flush, Kerrygold when I am half half, any old salted non brand when I am skint.

I do not put butter in sandwiches as the filling is enough for me (it's an Italian thing!). But I love rye bread and butter, and I use butter for colcannon, and occasionally in porridge when I eat it savoury.

PS The only thing I hate more than marg is those I Can't Beleive It's Not Butter type products, is there anyone out there who actually thinks taht rubbish tastes like butter?

This made me laugh! It's exactly the reason I'm going back to butter!!
  • Anchor Butter all the way for me, but these days I tend to compromise with Anchor Spreadable Light. As a treat tho I do like Asda's own Extra Special Brittany butter, especially on crusty bread. I tend to mainly get this if it is on the "whoopsie" shelf. I only like the yellow butters, not the insipid Lurpak type ones.
For years I perservered with lower fat spreads, but I have rebelled against them and now mostly stick to butter as the taste is far superior. I even tried the marges that were supposed to reduce your cholesterol, but they were absolutely vile!!!
Butter is much more natural than marge.

I use either Anchor (not very often) or Sainsbury's Basics. I like my butter salted but don't like Tesco's value salted butter as it too salty. My mum can't tell much difference between Anchor and Sainsbury's Basics.
