Anchor for me......I also can't stomach unsalted butter, when spread on toast. But it is ok in cooking.

I usually buy president salted. But my local Mr T only sells president unsalted
So if i go there i've been buying the Finest Brittany Butter, its slightly cheaper than president and i think even better, but quite salty but thats why i like it.
Got to stop buying it though as i just eat loads!!

I find that continental style cultured butter tends to work better if I'm saut!ing food like mushrooms, it seems much creamier when it melts. Generally I prefer President/Lurpak but for everyday use it's more likely to be the basics stuff!2015 comp wins - £370.25

Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
I'd rather have unsalted butter (has anyone tried the Tesco Value unsalted butter?) but other than that I've been using Asda Smartpriced salted butter so that I can stock up when it's on offer.Piglet

I love Tesco Finest salted Brittany butter, but even better than that is the clotted cream butter I can get from the specialist dairy shop near my office. It's really expensive but :drool::drool:

I like most butters:drool: I do remember hearing ( on TV) from a top chef that the quality of unsalted butter is higher than salted. He said you should always buy unsalted and add salt as required, not the most practical of suggestions:rolleyes: But any butter is preferable to any of the margarines or other spreads. The only exception is good olive oil for dipping bread:DYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

I always buy Kerrygold spreadable, mainly cos I can't stand refridgerated butter & if I leave pats of buter out they melt everywhere!
I do love the taste tho & love the fact that it's spreadable straight away when I take a new one out of the fridge.
I don't make pastry as my hands are far too hot! However I use cheap unsalted butter when cooking anything else.

PS The only thing I hate more than marg is those I Can't Beleive It's Not Butter type products, is there anyone out there who actually thinks taht rubbish tastes like butter??0 -
It's got to be unsalted. President is very nice and available widely. Aldi's unsalted continental butter is pretty good. My favourite (available in Waitrose, but my nearest branch is 30 mins away) is Meggle Alpine Butter - divine!0
