Thanks David/dvc.
You say that the sunglasses are risk free as you can return them, but I'm guessing that's not the case if you get prescription lenses in them first...? I@m also guessing that you'd have to pay postage both ways too..?
(Thanks for the wedding wishesI actually want to make sure I have prescription sunglasses for the honeymoon! :shhh:)
I'm not sure if I ever replied to this particular message, but yes it is risk free as you can return them even if you've had prescription lenses put in them. You have 14 days to return them (30 days for varifocals).
We'll either exchange them for something else if you're not happy, or you can get a full refund.
We also pay for the return postage.“Official Company Representative

Home trials are quite a good idea, but another one is go to an optical oulet, try on various frames you like then take a note of the frame code and size. You will find these on one of the sides arms . Then at leisure surf the web for the same frame and compare prices from all the sites. You should be able to make some huge savings. I did this and saved about £120.0

If I were you I'd buy your little one 'titanium' frames from glassesdirect - as they're practically indestructable. You can always 'reglaze' if the prescriptino changes. Cheaper than a couple of pairs a year + hassle! Best wishes. Katfishh :money:um, am reading this with interest, as my 4yr old wears glasses and has done for 1 year. Due to his age (its an occupational hazard,) he is a/constantly yanking them off in a boyish manner and bending/breaking the arms, and b/falling over and stratching or chipping them.....unfortunately the nhs only cover 1 pair of glasses a year and i still have to pay extra to get the thinned out lenses for any pair he has. (his prescription is mighty strong, +6.5 and +6, not to mention the fact in the summer he has no sunglasses as they usually cost another £70 on top. (he gets sad that he can't have bob the builder or thomas sunglasses like his friends too!)
I was thinking its bad enough now having to repair his glasses with sellotape etc until the year is up and i can claim another pair on the nhs, but i thought when he's 16+ and we have to pay for all of them, that i would be left bankrupt!!
Will have a look at these sites and see if any of them cater for kids, would be worth spending £20 etc to have a spare pair.0 -
Anyone know who sells latest range of Osiris? I was looking on website but couldn't find then one site said it was Specsavers own brand? Dont know if this is true? Thanks for the recommendation with the titanium frames. Titanium lenses are indeed light and tough.
I should point out for this particular customer though that we wouldn't be able to help out with the order as we don't make glasses for children under 16. Sorry.

Osiris is indeed Specsavers own brand which they own the rights to.“Official Company Representative

It will cost you nothing. They enclose a pre-paid label. I have been using them for two years now for all family and they provide a great service. Very friendly too.
KatfishhWondering if someone could help me re:glassesdirect.
I have been reading through and they seem to be quite highly recommended on here but can someone explain their home trial.
I understand that I can try 4 pairs of glasses at home and as long as I send them back after a week I have no obligation....except...it says this on there website:
It's free if you decide to buy
With almost a fortnight to get to know your glasses you can make absolutely certain whether they're right for you.
Thats the bit I don't understand. If I don't buy any frames after the home trial how much will it cost me?0 -
I have just received my home trial pack from them and have got to say; what excellent service.
Do glassesdirect have any price protection on their glasses...that is if I buy a pair before christmas and they then put their prices down in a sale will I be protected?
Just a thought...am so tempted to buy now but don't want to find out their glasses have massive discounts in the new year.0 -
What does everyone think?
I ordered two pairs of glasses from eyeexperts.co.uk on 6th December and was told on the 8th they'd 'definately' be sent in 5 days only I still haven't received them
I know it may seem a bit impatient but I can barely see out of my old pair (newer pair broke and am waiting to hear back from Ciliary Blue with those!) and I have emailed but got no reply...
Do you think I'll ever get them? The money's already been taken0 -
lb364, I'm sorry you're having problems, I've never had problems buying glasses online, but surely there comes a time when your health is more important than saving money.
In your circumstances I'd have bought a pair of the cheapest specsavers glasses to use in the interim. You've then got a spare up-to-date pair.
I can't say whether you'll get the pair you've ordered, but it's just taken the Royal Mail 7 days to deliver a book 60 miles to me, so don't give up hope yet0
