I have just checked my accounts, one fixed and one instant access, interest has been added but I reckon I have lost quite a bit through being on monthly interest paid to my linked account, the reason is that 2 days after Icesave locked us out it showed my monthly interest being paid out to my linked account but of course it never arrived nor was it added to my account, they have added some interest but it's quite a bit less than it should have been (in my estimation).

I shall not hassle them though I will be really glad to get my deposits back rather than going through a lot of form filling and visiting Iceland! :)

nilrem I had a similar reaction when I saw that the interest credited was less than what was shown as the net paid out in the 8/10 posting but I think the calculation may be right. This is because what was posted on 8/10 was calculated up to a later date (13/10 in my case) and so if I am right it included 6 more days interest than it should if they are now doing the interest up to 7/10. Would that explain the difference for you also?
  • Fantastic!! We had two accounts and interest has been added on both upto 10/10/08. Tax has been deducted.

Bit weird - of my four accounts, two have tax deducted from the interest and two are shown gross. Perhaps it's just a matter of time........

You may well be right TBH, it is a bit confusing, mine does in fact say 08/10/2008 Processed, then Posted 11/10/2008. :)

I am sorting out new savings accounts but need to look into some fixed rate accounts as well as instant access. Is anyone sorted re fixed rate?

Halifax are offewring 6% fixed for 12 months on their guaranteed reserve. You need to have a current account and pay in at least £1000 a month to the current account. Also minimum balance in reserve is £2500. Unlike other fixed rates you can make 4 withdrawls in a 12 month as long as minimum balance is £2500 you can also make as many deposits as you wish.

I've just opened one and moved my websaver cash into it for the extra rate:T esp as it looks like interest rates are probably going to fall.

Our joint accounts have also had interest added - good news! One of the accounts also has a line showing the tax deducted but the other two don't show this yet. Has anyone else checked this?:rotfl:

All accounts showing interest added, like you some have second line showing tax deducted some do not

Don't worry. called them yeterday and they answered in a few minutes, you would think it was business as usual.,

Is that because calls are really being answered by Newcastle BS staff I wonder?

They always have been. As someone pointed out on here earlier, the Newcastle outsources its call centre and systems to other companies.

Edit: Just re-read that and realised I've phrased it wrongly. What I meant to say is that various companies (including Icesave) outsource their call centre and systems to the Newcastle!

I hadn't been on this thread for a few days as I needed to give myself a few days break from it all. But have just read a lot of you have had some interest added. checked mine and yes it's there added to 10/10. Plus my email address is on my first page asking me to change it if needed. Get a good feeling it's going to happen pretty quickly now. Getting tempted to count my chickens !!
