Well I hate to say it, (I don't really) but I told you so. No one on any of these or similar threads in which I posted seemed to take any notice and blithely went ahead and threw money into fixed KE bonds. So hey ho, live and learn. KE have been in the hands of the administrators for 2 -3 weeks now so how on earth are they going to honour new fixed term accounts.

Do you know? I sound like Baldur!!!

How will it prevent me doing this I have enough capital in virtually instant access accounts just waiting to buy another 3 houses when prices fall about another 15%.....

Another 3 houses?! Somebody is doing alright - although it could be argued that all the people who have got into making money through buying up loads of property have contributed to its downturn and hence the crash of the general economy and credit tightening.

Well I've not noticed your previous posts on this. Possibly 'cos the limited time i have for this stuff was focussed on keeping track of the shambles re. missing outbound transactions (having a personal interest...). I've therefore held off doing any additional transactions on my KE until dust has settled - until today... when I moved some money from instant to FTD.

Now, what I know is that this is the first time I've seen stuff about some distinction about KE retail deposits transferring to ING, versus ING working with the administrators of KE. This is a pretty damn important distinction. But a bit late for my move of today. To quote some excerpts from both ING and FSCS, from emails from ING and FSCS postings:

    ING:
    "
As you may be aware the UK Treasury has taken action to protect your savings, transferring all individuals’ UK savings balances from Kaupthing Edge to ING Direct
All your savings are safe and are now with ING Direct, the world's leading direct savings bank and part of the ING Group which is one of the world's largest banks with assets in excess of £1 trillion and 85 million customers.
Our priority is to restore normal service to you as soon as possible and to keep you informed with regular updates."

"ING Direct has taken over the retail savings balances and customers from Kaupthing Edge and Heritable Bank in the UK.
    What about my money?
All your savings are safe and are now with ING Direct in the UK and your accounts will continue to operate in the same way as before."

    FSCS:
"The Treasury has used its powers to transfer the accounts of the majority of Heritable's retail depositors, and the Edge depositors of Kaupthing to ING Direct. "

So elbe you may well be right, but I would say if you are the statements put out by both ING and FSCS are extraoridanly misleading, since they paint the picture of a transfer of the business to ING, not a transfer to administrators who are in turn working with ING to move the business. That is a different picture from that painted e.g. a la B&B where there was a seamless transfer.

And why the hell are they still allowing transactions in your account if they are not going to honour them. Not exactly difficult to switch off the 'apply for FTD button...'.

If what you - and others - are saying is correct, I suspect ING is going to face another welter of bad press on straight misrepresentation.

What's your problem? now you are resorting to typing insults regarding my penis size, how adult of you (not).

I was not bragging I was merely speaking the truth. Now what's all this about 'blokes who can only brag' now if you want to take this further then I suggest you message me. I am sure there is no need to include and bore the forum with what amounts to a tantrum from you. By further I do not mean typing insults at each other via the internet like schoolboys....PM me

I think he is a bit older actually, certainly an adult (although I quite understand why you might not think so from his post on this thread) I read quite a few of his posts in an effort to see if he is anywhere near me (Dorking) and maybe learn some more information about him, perhaps even track him down, but with no luck. There was some ref to transferring money from Spain so it looks like he may have sold a property in Spain a while ago, hence my thinking he isn't a child.
I find these internet twerps who type insults via the net but probably wouldn't have the balls to say it to someone face to face quite ridicleous.

Hi, I would like say that there was no bragging intended (as has been said on this thread) I was merely pointing out this in response to someone saying to me that I should not have tied my money up for 3 years, ie that I had money avilable to do what I wanted to do, and obviously (or should I say unfortunately) I am not talking about buying 3 houses outright, merely deposits etc

I'm not one of the ones that bid up the house prices, in fact I bought some of mine when prices were still falling in the early 90's and more in the late 90's (although I did buy a house last year, but then I can't be expected to get everything right  )
