Got to say I did panic a bit and took out most of my money, but left a few hundred quid as a gamble...!0

I'll keep my fingers crossed during a very long 3 years for you then!
No need I'm sure the 7.67% will be much more than other rates on offer during that time. As for safety well it couldn't be much safer I am way under the 100,000 euros.
Although I must confess I didn't know it was going to be a very long 3 years, I thought it was just going to be 3 standard years, damn I slipped up there then, that's probably why the rate was much higher, I knew deep down that there must have been a catch0 -
I took out almost all of my money from my K.E instant access account but as the rate has not changed I have transferred a few K back in, because I don't think ING will go to the wall, and I'm hoping I will still benefit from a good rate for the time being:beer:.0

The way things are going with sterling ATM, 100k Euros will be the equivalent of a small fortune. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
If they offered cover via 'passport' for a million Euros it wouldn't make any difference. By the way, you don't get the full amount regardless of your balance at the time!
Pray tell me what is the source of your information? Or perhaps you are just talking tosh?In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Actually there now seems a doubt if KE will allow money recently transferred into TFB's to remain there
If I can continue to open the accounts, then they change T&C's then I will sue (and be damned!).
BTW, I'm not sure what information do you have that leads you to believe that ING will not honour the FTD's.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Yes, a catch indeed, and I'm sorry to have to tell you they certainly are going to be 'long' years.
But I thought 3 out of 4 years were only 365 days, is this not so? I don't understand how they will be 'long' years?
Also, the trouble with locking away for so long (especially if you can no longer break mid-term) is that you prevent yourself from being able to consider other investment opportunities, property in 18-24 months for example. However,
How will it prevent me doing this I have enough capital in virtually instant access accounts just waiting to buy another 3 houses when prices fall about another 15%. You are jumping to conclusions and wrongly assuming we were discussing all my capital, whereas in reality we are only talking about a small proportion of my liquid assets here, don't you think it makes sense to try and have some of it tied up for a few years earning good interest? ie diversification
I can see now why someone like you is blissfully happy.
What do you mean someone like me? You know nothing about me, but I am quite happy thanks, I am financially independant, have a great wife and I'm mortgage free (well on the house I live in at any rate).0 -

Well good luck but they confirmed to me today that they have broken the FTB's and have in fact sent the 33k to my nominated bank account which will arrive on wed/thursday. The reason they said was that although the KE website allowed this bond purchase, they are not allowing it and will cancel any bond purchases that were made after ING took over. TBH I can't be bothered arguing with them it's not worth it over the extra interest on 33k which amounts to less than £1000
