Had to cut my weekend to Donegal short as my grand-daughter was taken into hospital for overnight observation but, guess what

37,800 little souls that were lost in KE/ING Purgatory have made their way to the Heaven which is PanicButton's Bank of Ireland A/c. I now have some idea how the father of the prodigal son felt - bring out the fatted calf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all those who gave me such unselfish support over the past weeks, you know who you are; I will be back in the morning to thank you properly and to continue to give my support to those still waiting.

Congrats PanicB:T super stuff. Donegal - my ancestoral home; we are from Carrowtrasna on the north coast on the banks of Lough Foyle - absolutely stunning scenery.

Please advise me. I want to transfer my money out of KE so that I can catch the last of the good fixed rate deals out there. Am I wasting my time trying to do so? Will I miss the boat because of KE? Should I attempt to transfer my money now or might it result in my money dissapearing to no man's land? Thanks.
Depends what you're in with KE - if a variable ac might as well go for it - ING/KE will drop rates variables soon for sure. If you've got a bond with penalties to w/d & a good time to run leave it IMHO. But if you've got the nerve for ICICI (stay under the £50k(£100k if joint) & room for interest) & a 2yr with them can still get 6+%.. but note they pulled the 7% fix in days...

If you apply for a fixed rate deal now, in most cases the bank will give you a few days (about a week), As of yesterday someone on this list was able to get a 6.6% fixed 1 year deal from Birmingham Midshires (HBOS) who gave him about a week to get the funds to them. I got a message from ICICI saying they had reduced their rates, though still quite attractive (though with some disruption risk if the bank fails). Once you have found a suitable schems and started the application process (probably best to select someone this can be initiated online, or it may have closed before your letter reaches them) you can call KE and find out the situation on transferring money out. I think there is no longer a proble,m, the problem stems from those that tried to transfer whilstKSF was going into administration.
  • Hi Gunnaknow, a transfer I made on 7/10 wasn't paid til 17th, but since then I've made two BACS transfers to get the rest of my money out, and they both were paid to my linked without any problems (money arrived in 2-3 days). However there are clearly problems there with some people still not receiving their money from old transactions...
  • Great news on the money front PB :T

Hope everything's ok with your Grandaughter

Updated list of people awaiting transfers 2045 7th Nov

Anyone viewing this thread who is not in receipt of their transfer, please check your name is on the list .
As I will be at work during the day it will be difficult for me to keep a close eye on who is new and needs adding or who is getting paid – I will try my best. However it would be best if people can, please PERSONAL MESSAGE me if you need adding or removing – do NOT edit the list yourself.
The total “missing money” for 11 out of 25 is £ 247,315
    9 transfers from 7th/8th October
5 transfers from on or after 9th October

If anyone else wants to PM me their amount and date I will add them to the list!

    9 people paid today!

Thanks for all your hard work theFury!

For those whose money has 'bounced back' to their KE account - an extract from a previous post, with info sent by Alistair Hemmings in an email:

"If a customer's funds are showing in their Kaupthing Edge account, the
customer's receiving bank has rejected the payment and the money is now
back in their Kaupthing Edge account. To move this money out, we would
ask customers to set up another transfer online and their money will
then be transferred using the normal 3 working day BACS process."

But make sure you use BACS not CHAPS! Good luck everyone!

PS Anyone reliant upon interest income and who doesn't need access to their funds for 1-2 years needs to act NOW to lock in a decent rate. Economists are forecasting Base Rates to drop down to between 0.5% and 2.5% over the next 6 month, with 1.5-2% the most likely range - in which case your interest income is about to collapse.

I know that most people on this thread are primarily concerned with getting their money back and I have therefore been chastised for mentioning this, but please spare a thought for those of us who do not have a salary check comming in each month or a fat pension and who are entirely dependent on the income generated from our savings.
  • I have just listened to Money Box on the BBC. They said that ING have told them there are about 800 KE savers who have still not received their withdrawals. They said they hope to clear these by the end of next week!

I don't know from which date in October the problems go up to, but certainly recent payments (although ONLY BACS) seem to be going through well. I have a feeling it's somewhere up to 20th Oct - before that there were problems.

Good Luck to everyone still waiting - keep on contacting Al Hemmings - seems to bring results! But certainly make sure they know your situation - they really do seem to have 'lost' people.

Thankyou to SoulSaver and Auntie_K for your advise. I'm in a variable rate and it's just dropped, so I'll be moving it out right away. With BACS, as I hear that CHAPS might stil be a bit dodgy?

Do you mean that interest rates might drop by 1.5-2% or that that interest rates will drop to 1.5-2%?
