How temporary is this Temp ??
Sounds like she's been there longer than most of the Board !!!
Definitely longer than heads of research there!
There were definitely no free Chrimbo parties for bad years there...

Perhaps there will be cardboard cakes and elderflower wine homemade by the directors. Can't say though that I'm really very interested in whether they spend a few pounds on something which may improve moral and 'esprit de corps' in difficult times.0

2. Probably an oversight or as per other members suggestion, implementation of the new EU law.
Help their "morals", Kevin? What kind of Christmas party are they getting then!!? Could be boring...........0 -
Getting away from the grey rooms discussing and working around your co-workers losing jobs & homes to a having a Christmas party, enjoying the wine and getting away from the drab atmosphere... If this doesn't raise morals (its probably better put as spirits) then I don't know what does!Help their "morals", Kevin? What kind of Christmas party are they getting then!!? I've just got an email from a friend who's been temping at the investment banking division of RBS/ABN for about four years. NEVER ever has she been invited to the staff Christmas party because she's a temp.
This year for the first time, she received an email telling her to save the date for the Christmas party on 27 November.
1. Do you think RBS investment bankers deserve a Christmas party at taxpayers' expense?
2. Isn't it a coincidence that the moment our [ie taxpayers' money] is being spent people who aren't normally invited are invited!

1. No, but we (taxpayers) haven't given them anything yet.0 -
How sad to suggest hard working staff don't deserve a Christmas party.
And the taxpayer isn't paying for it, it will come out of company profits. The planned preference shares will pay a fixed dividend not a slice of profits so it wouldn't affect the government's return anyway, as the government has not sought warrants - in contrast to Buffet and the US government over there. (If you don't understand the difference between profits, cash flow and capital you might read some basic accounting texts to clear up your confusion here).0 -
the reason for the change is that way before all this came about with the money, head office apparently made the decison (for insurance arm anyway) that each individual building or department could choose what they wanted to do, for many years for instance the one i went to was held at a certain location with out building and a few others, as it was deemed too many people now the building has been given the choice, the building are having one on their own, this has resulted in the post room staff being invited for the first time ever, though they were worked for rbs insurance sorting the mail in our building, they are actually from a diferent company, due to the reduction in numbers for one party, there is now the facilities at the venue to include them
also staff have worked hard all year round, why should an xmas party be lost, and beleive me its not like its heavily subsidised, they pay for the meal (more ofthen than not buffet) then you get a a couple bottles of wine at a table for 10-15 people and a couple drinks vouchers (between 2 and 4 per person max) and the rest of the night you have to pay for your own drinks
besides if we are talking about "on tax payers money" do you not feel that council staff, members of parliament, should not have their work xmas parties, as they are funded too by tax payers moneyMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
