I missed watching the programme today as i was at a meeting. I cant remember how the film ended. Did I tell you that the next week Jenny got herself another job - not as high paid as a previous one, but one that filled the gap?
The funny thing is in the film she looks like she wasn't listening, actually she was, I know from the producers that once i left she was very contemplative. These things are a big life shock for people - and i think often they put a public brave face on but in private they really notice.

I am glad you said that Martin, cause her grinning like a cheshire cat all through the programme made me wonder if she had taken it all in.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Just seen a trailer/plug for Make Me Rich, first I've seen. Between Tonight with Trevor MacDonald and Coronation Street. Anyone else seen it?“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

£2,400 pocket money? You couldn't make it up!
£400 rent for the cottage? With her as the landlord I'd want a substantial discount on that rate.
Maybe it's just me but I really don't like people who exaggerate head movements when they talk, like she did right at the end of the programme.
A good natured woman, but unfortunately thick to go with it. It did make me laugh that she has that much overspend, yet no internet access.
I like to see Martin on TV, but I do laugh at some stage in each programme at how blind some people are.0 -
I liked her and she was young to be widowed. I hope she succeeds.0

So what has that comment got to do about money saving in the program?I am glad you said that Martin, cause her grinning like a Cheshire cat all through the programme made me wonder if she had taken it all in.
A lot of folk are just having a go at the people in the show saying they are thick, stupid they have bad hair cuts, I'm sure Martin never intended this type of comment to finish up on his chat boards give the girl a chance, I'm sure she was only laughing because she was nervous in front of the camera at least she had the guts to stand up there and do it, how many of the 300,000 people that read this site would do what she did?
It is so easy to find fault just sitting watching the TV, just think what you are typing, read it through before hitting the send button. Just remember Martin has given these people this website address so they are reading it. How would you feel if it was you?
So far there has just been a lot of b*tching about the folk in the shows but very little talk about money saving - there are some very good TV gossip websites out there for that - I thought this was supposed to be about money saving.Chocolate is the solution to all life's problems. I think Gatra is right, please do remember many of the contributers are now MoneySavers and may well read this.
Jenny is a lovely woman who'd been through a hard time. She's very bright and had a good job, but like many was blinkered when it came to finance and had mistakenly thought the lump sum and the payout was enough to keep her running.
Sitting down to deal with your finances is tough. The people on these boards are the converts, (or have always been like that anyway). I have to say I admire the contributers they put their finances on the line. Jenny was willing to have me come in and interfere with her life. I hope and pray it helped, but it was still brave to do.
In all the programmes bar one i felt the contributers really listened, though as you'll see some of them were already very good moneysavers, in the one that didn't it turns out that he (yes it was a man, no surprise) actually was taking it in, just found it very difficult to admit the fault to himself.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I'm recording these and watching when I have time, this one was the most interesting so far because her overspend was so huge,
hopefully the points raised by Martin will encourage her to look differently at her spending and income, there is only so much Martin can do himself in one day,
she seemed to have quite a bit of land available, mostly taken up by animals but that could be utilised in other ways, eg caravan storage, peole are happy to pay for somewhere to store caravans over the Winter,
the cottage could also be used as a weekly let, one bedroom cottages can cost £350 a week in summer monthsI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
