speaking as a proffesional pedigree shepherd i was gob smacked at the cost of keeping so few animals,£8500 ?(this incidently is my annual salary) , i have a flock of over 400 pedigree sheep and it costs very little more to keep all of them ,(feed and medication) instead of spending thousands with the vet a local collage course in basic animal hubandry would repay it self many times over , all the medication could be bought from the vet or local agricultural merchants over the counter and administered herself ,if she got a medicines certificate (courses for this and many other animal based things are free paid for by europe at local agricultural colleges, contact the local one ) , I would say that all the animals looked very good but Unfortunatly when you have animals tough decisions have to be taken and dare i say it a few lambs in the freezer would help matters immensley and would make room for other waifs and strays , anyway very interesting all the best andy
  • I have to agree whole-heartedly with gatra, sadly it happens all too often on MSE when talking about this show and similar ones in the past icon7.gif

Especially when we, as viewers, are only seeing one small part of people's lives. There but for the grace of God, and Martin, go I icon12.gif
  • this was the first and only show i watched out of the first week, oh the joys of working :(.

I must admit though her overspend was enormous and seeing she spent 8k a year on her animals was silly. I have animals myself and have now sat down and added up how much they cost me, it is no way near as much as that but has woken me up to how much money is 'used up' by animals :(.

I think over all the show was great, very simple to understand and i love the little pig :) I just hope more people are watching this and taking the advice :)
  • The beauty of the programs is that they provide an opportunity for people watching to have a serious think about their own finances.

I wouldn't want Martin to expose my financial pecadilloes on national telly and I have the greatest admiration for those people who do.

Constructive thoughts on people's spending can be useful, criticising people appearing in these programs isn't helpful or supportive. Play nice everyone, unless you're prepared to appear in a program yourself.
I'm not letting Trinny and Susannah loose on my wardrobe either
