Chocolate fountain question

My DD is having her Birthday party at the weekend and we are going to use our choccy fountain as the desert, there are going to be about 60 children (only ages 6-7 so won't be eating loads hopefully) how much chocolate do I need to buy, I have got a 900g bag of ready to go stuff, will this be enough???

MMMM Its a joint party but the two of them know all of the guests, such a social life for a six year old!! better than mine !! We have hired a hall and an entertainer so not much to do, just making up 60 partybags now !!
We are using our own choccy fountain and I've lost the instructions, I'll try and look it up online????

    Had a quick search around:

if its a standard home chocolate fountain then 900g is the standard amount it will hold.

    have a look at this:

HTH and have a great party :D

You'll need a lot more chocolate than that! Friends of mine have a professional one they take round to weddings etc and they calculate as a rule of thumb a minimum of 10lbs of chocolate for 100 people (and that's being stingy... that's for people who would rather keep cost down and risk running out of chocolate... ideallly it should be 12.5lbs for 100 people) so I'd say you need about 8-9lbs for the kids... Bear in mind that with 60 of them you'll also need to sort out some sort of queue system and honestly? I think a tiny home chocolate fountain is going to be pushed to cope with enough chocolate through the day for 60 kids...

    Well a bar of chocolate is typically 60g, so if there's 60 kids, then I guess you'd need a maximum of 1 bar each, so 60g x 60 = 3600g!! (Which is 8lbs).
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I took my choccy fountain on Guide camp in the Summer. I can't remember how much chocolate I took (sorry :o) but we had lots of bowls of fresh fruit cut into cubes and some marshmallows. The Guides queued up with a bamboo skewer each and made a fruit and marshmallow kebab that they dipped into the fountain. It was fab (and VERY messy :D).

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

so roughly the 8-9lbs I calculated ;) Bear in mind also that there is "wastage" in the fountain itself... :D

It's only going to be used for desert so only a small bowl of fruit/marshmallows etc with a sprinkling of choocy.
Used the same last year for 45 kids so i'm sure it'll be fine. Thanks for your advice though

I would agree that you need more chocolate, I used one for a fundraiser, there were about 50 people there are we went through loads of chocolate! Good luck, 60 kids, you are a braver person than me!
Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:
