Hope the police have been out to you by now. Please let us know how you get on, partly because I'm nosy, but mostly so we know you're ok.

You have a mad man breakin in yet you got time to type on here! call 999 for christ sake!

I agree with trigger, couldnt send my post to you because the forum crashed.
initially reading your header the way it was worded was that you were in need of urgent assistance!!!!!, then I thought hang on one minute, someones smashing the door down and your posting on here, on the Vent board!! now then, did you post on the Vent board because youd been hanging on for 15 mins for the police? and thought it was too long!! or was it a mistake? ... either way you sent alam bells ringing with your post, . . if it was so bad that you needed advice then it was bad enough to ring 999 in the first place...

That said I hope you and expecially your children are ok now...

Just wanted to send my support.

If anyone criricises you for phoning 999 then say that you have young children and that you were terrified as someone was trying to kick the door in!

Suppose you had been elderly with a weak heart - it could have been very serious even if he did not gain access.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

As I'm a bloke, and similar has happened to me (other houses in the street not mine)

I would have opened the door and explained to him he had the wrong house. With my fist if neccessary ;)

In your position if you are afraid to open the door, you should have just rung 999.
  • Can't bite my tongue any longer - is this a wind-up?

Seriously you came onto the site to ask if you should call 999?

if in ANY doubt, call 999. They'll help you, and if not, send you on to someone who can...

It's like these old people who fall over getting into bed, and spend the night (8-10 hours) on the floor because they 'didn't want to wake anyone up and bother them'

Have to be honest and admit that I was thinking the same thing...
