  • Hi. Great post yet again Reestit , thanks!

I have a question about number migration wh9ich I would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions for.

I am currently on Orange contract, and would like to take advantage of this offer. I really want to take my number with me, but after speaking to Orange found out that they won't let me do this. This isn't that surprising really, as those deals are designed to get people to move onto Orange from other networks. However, they have shot themselves in the foot really, because this means that I can only take my number if I move to a different network! (If I want to use offers like this one).

I was wondering if anyone has any bright ideas on how to get round this (ie a way that I can stay with Orange, keep my number and use this deal)? Would it be possible to get a cheap PAYG sim for another network, and the port the number across, then port it back onto the new Orange phone?

I havnt been able to find an answer elsewhere on the net, so any help would be really appreciated.

I would double-check this if I were you but ISTR that Orange are unique in that they allow you to port a number in up to 3 months into the contract. Why not ask them about this policy?

If this is true then all you have to do is port your old number out to a PAYG SIM on another network - ISTR that Vodafone will provide you with a FREE PAYG SIM card if you phone the right number and ask to port into their PAYT system (I'll have a look for that number and post it here if I find it) - and then go ahead with your new Orange contract purchase with a new number.

Live with your new number for a few weeks or so and then ask to have your old number (now considered to be a Vodafone number) ported across.

Voila! - one bargain Orange contract with your old number.

  • It is worth noting that, due to the nature of the mobile phone industry (retailer contract sales commissions from the networks and network promotions are generally reviewed on a calendar monthly basis), the current range of bargains on offer on the Orange network are by no means guaranteed to continue beyond Tuesday.

    cheers,
