Banned from Tesco - 'Misusing Coupons'

Comments

  • These coupons were NOT those printed from CouponNet where you can only print one.

As long as the store are selling more of the product that they are receiving of the coupon, they won't have a problem getting the money back.

But I guess, it's just life, and some people are just ignorant, and won't even explain what I've done wrong.

Surely they need a 'fair' reason to refuse to admit and serve me?

I don't see why. They are a company......they can chose to serve whoever they like.

Using £1.70 of printed coupons for a transaction of a block of A4 paper and a drink must have meant that you were trying to get £1.70 off a transaction of around £3 or so? Using coupons that they would then have had to try and get the money back for. Through a self serve till.......I'm not surprised they don't want you as a customer anymore. If it was my shop......I probably wouldn't want you either. It is coupon abuse.

On a practical note, I guess all you can really do now is pursue this with the store manager, but I don't know if it's worth the potential embarrassment of them saying that you are indefinitely banned? Good luck anyway.

    The tesco policy states that:

    1) Internet Coupons are allowed
    2) You can use a manufacturer coupon (such as Mitchum) even if you do NOT buy the product, as long as it's in stock
    3) You can buy ALL of your shopping using coupons as long as they are all DIFFERENT, and of course in date and stocked by Tesco.

The policy goes against what we would naturally think, that is why I feel their is the confusion but surely the staff should be briefed properly!!!
    WRONG

The coupon policy is decided by each store and acceptance is at its descretion. What you stated is advice given by head office. Ultimately its upto the store
  • Head Office brief each store with that policy.

The problem is when I ask in store whether they have been made aware of this policy, the answer is always no, and that they believe it's 10% off your shop.

I then ask whether that's a store policy, and they tell me it's company wide.

This clearly shows the staff have not been briefed and trained correctly. Fair enough if they were aware of this head office policy but then their store manager letting them know they had to follow a specific store policy.

But, this is not the case.

Agreed, you wasn't purchasing the product so it can be seen as coupon abuse. Seems like You abused the system, as they say on computer games "You loose"q

ITS A GUIDELINE NOT POLICY EACH STORE DECIDES ITS OWN POLICY

Clear enough? I work for tesco and know the policies alot better than you.

    and one last thing

Dundee is not head office it is the customer service centre, they read from a script up there

Most of the staff say it is company wide as they have never worked in other stores

Your Tesco store is in the minority with their coupon policy.

Most stores do ALLOW you to use coupons even if you do not buy the product, which is following the guidelines they have been given.

I know for a fact my store DOES allow this, so how can it be seen as coupon abuse?

 How would you know that?

Most people use one or two local stores, how many do you use, 100?

You paid for £3 of shopping with £1.70 of coupons thats 60%

And my store is in the majority alot of the stores I have worked in use the same policy. All PFS's use the same policy

Seems like You have been banned for coupon abuse end of subject

Your lucky they didn't take your clubcard rights away

As it's been said above different stores accept different things. The policy where I worked was up to £5 total in coupons, 10% off the bill. All had to be different and you had to buy as many coupons as you use, but you didn't have to buy the product unless it was a Tesco coupon or an internet coupon.. So if you spent £50 you could have the full £5 off aslong as you had the same or more items than coupons.
Had you been spoken to before about using the vouchers? If you had and still did it that would be why they have banned you.
If they have banned to (and you are a clubcard holder) they should have sent you a letter explaining why and for how long. You can always write to the store manager and ask them to explain if they don't have time to talk to you. If you don't get any response then see if you can speak to security manager again and confirm why you're banned and what you can do about it to have the ban reversed.
