I always flour rolls to get them soft. Obviously before they go in the oven. As in Bunny200's recipe above.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I don't overcook my rolls but once they are cool they are quite hard - still taste lovely but I wondered if there is anything i can do to soften the crust a bit?
Thanks0 -
try cooking them at a lower temperature for a bit less time. If it's too dense try making the dough with warmer water so it raises better / more.

The hairy bikers were making rolls last week, some they wanted soft and some crusty. The soft ones went in the middle of the oven the crusty ones on the top shelf.

put butter papers or greased greaseproof paper on top of them as they are cooling, with a tea towel or other cloth on top of the paper.
This holds the steam in as they cool and keeps the crust soft.0 -

Wrap them in a tea towel as soon as they come out of the oven. Works a treat;)0
