haha they can watch..
they can come in, they can see for themselves (as they have done) and they can be confused, and they can then walk out scratching their heads, repeating "no TV at all? its insanity.." as they did the last time..
hahah
if you do not have a TV nor watch a TV you do NOT need a TV licence.
end of story.
all you have to do is invite them in and proove to them you watch no TV (which is simple)
programs on DVD that you have purchased dont count by the way, because by paying for the DVD you have paid the required copyright fee/licensing fee etc.0 -

What do you watch on TV that you can get on Sky but not Freeview? I can get everything apart from the Premium Sky channels like sports and films.
Sport I don't mind, because I can go to the pub if I REALLY want to watch a game (maybe you should take up smoking and drinking to help with that!). Films I don't mind because I can get Film 4 amongst other channels, and there's always Blockbusters!0 -
he only broadband you can get without a BT line is cable (only Virgin and Sky, I think)
Nobody covers where I live without BT Line and I share Broadband on 2 computers at home so can not do with those pay as you go as they only work on 1 computer at a time0 -
How much do you use the internet Anna? If you only use it for surfing you could get Pay as You Go mobile internet. Too slow for streaming and downloading films and stuff, but fine for everything else.
And you could then stop paying for that damn Sky too!! I'm now going to hijack the thread and make sure every post has an anti Sky TV message... grrr...0 -

Hi Kier - as I said, each to their own. I don't really want to get into a debate about whether or not I should have Sky - what each person does with their surplus income is their own business.

Quick update : Virgin won't accept you unless you can provide discharge papers
She did tell me that some people don't admit they are BR, but as soon as they get referred for a credit check it shows up and they are refused. If there is another adult on the premises who isn't BR then you can do it in their name, but until discharge they are not interested.

Just a point about phone lines for broadband. All phone lines are initially provided by BT (ie the actual hardware and set up) but you don't have to pay BT line rental if you get your phone and broadband from another provider. We have phone and broadband from Plusnet (reasonable price) - no money goes to BT from us, although I suppose Plusnet might pay them for the privilege! We were going to go with Sky (sorry Kier!) but they don't provide in our area - too rural. CBx0

Sky were fine about it though
All I need to do is organise a BT phone line
