im beginning to think thats its better to buy cheaper oil and change it more often, anyone agree / disagree?

Depends on the car & how you drive it :) If you have a Ferrari then I wouldnt recommend it ;)

I'm a firm believer in changing the oil way before the manufacturers stated intervals... to me 12000 miles is just too long so on that basis using a cheaper oil & changing at 6000 is a better option.

  • It depends entirely on the type of engine in the car, its condition, fuel type and the owners intentions for it.

Oil filters vary hugely inside quality wise. Anyone who says "They're all the same inside." Has never bothered to compare the insides.

Diesels tend to soot up the oil more quickly than petrols, so the oil goes black quicker and looks older.

Lidl 15/40 is back on this week, even if you don't want to use it in winter, it's cheap enough at £10 to get some in for a summer oil, if you do a 6000 mile oil change.

    .

Agreed, I always buy the original oil filters for my car, to be honest, they don't cost much more than the look-a-like ones.

There's a guy on ebay does a full range of oils both synthetic, semi and mineral.

If I recall the last time I bought a full synth 15 or 10w40 was about £67 for 25ltr, ie about 5 changes.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

tesco are currently doing a 4 litre 10w40 own brand semi synthetic on offer for £12, down form around £17, don't know about their quality but would they sell if it was rubbish? the api rating seems fine too.
