My local motor factors (Partco) have excellent prices for oil - half that of Halfrauds!

There's not much to go wrong in an oil change. As long as you ask them what oil they will be using and watch them do it, and check the oil level before driving away, nothing can go wrong.

Oh yes there is, National put the wrong oil in mine, I ended up changing it again myself a week Later. After loads of phone calls and emails customer services finally rang me back, apologised and gave me a full refund. Never again!

Again, oh yes there certainly is! A friends wife took their Vx Carlton to one of these tyre/exhaust establishments who also did oil and filter changes. They fitted the incorrect screw on filter which fell off on the way home losing all the oil out of the engine before she pulled over and stopped the engine. Apparently there were two alternatives with differing threads.
Fortunately no damage but the inconvenience of an AA call out and recovery.
    So no blanket assumptions please.

Perhaps the obvious answer to this question is to get your car fixed, leaving oil on the road is illegal as well as dangerous, especially for motor cyclists that run on to it.;)

    A 20/50 mineral oil for £23.57

Unless I've missed it, that's the cheapest as well.
Depends on what car you have, all cheap oils meet a minimum spec, dearer oils may be better, if the cars worth it.
  • im beginning to think thats its better to buy cheaper oil and change it more often, anyone agree / disagree?
