Wouldn't that be nice, knightstyle?! No, as above, the Sky+ box isn't much better than a standard Sky box if you're not paying Sky at least £10 per month. I'm wating for the Freesat recorder to come out, for subscription free satellite recording. Plugs straight in to where the Sky+ was. Arriving in November for £300. Ouch!

£300 for a freesat recorder, where as if you already have a sky+ you only need to pay £10 p/m to have the record facility if you have no subs totaling £120 p/a. Saving you £180.

    Clever maths there..

You buy a Freesat Recorder that costs say £300, you keep it 5 years, it costs £300.

..or you pay Sky £10.00 a month for 5 years, that costs £600.

Humax hardware is very good. I have 2 Humax 9200 (1 for 3 years) and Humax 8000 for 5 years and still going strong.

I am going for Freesat Humax pvr when its being shipped next month, probably the only thing that may need replacing is the HD which I beleive is easy to replace

Same applies to many Sky + Receivers.

My Humax PVR is 3 years old now, no problem.

Granted. Considering it lasts 5 years, if it only lasts 2 then you would need to purchace new one, costing you another £300. where as another sky+ box would be far cheaper as you can pick them up for around £50.

So you could pay the £10 p/m for the sky+ record facility @ £120 p/a or even for 2 years @£240 still saving £60. Then surely the price of a freesat recorder like most electrical equipment will drop dramaticaly after 2-3 years ie. freeview boxes, dvd players, dvd recorders & HD tv's.

Not forgetting of course, that with Freesat, you are not stitched in to a Sky Contract.;)

You are not attached to a contract if you pay the £10 for the sky+ record facility, you could cancel at any time.
