You learn something everyday................
And I suppose you are on a higher level and don't need to make a living??!!
I would be most interested in know how you make a living?
Some of you make me laugh with this moral high ground you are trying to occupy.0 -
I'm just a lowly workshop joiner who works really hard & long hours for a living just to support my family. I don't claim to be a bastion for moral high ground, i just like to know that i'm not getting 'stroked' when trying to buy a product from whichever source....What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

What an interesting thread and IMHO, for what it's worth, bidding on another sellers goods with every intention of paying cannot possibly be deemed shill bidding. :xmassmile
That said, to prove me right and others wrong, what is needed is a definitive "EBay Approved" response and the person to provide that should be Mr. Steve Oglethorpe, who is the Senior Policy Manager/Shill Bidding. If anyone wishes to pose the question, he can be contacted at policy_steve@ebay.com
P.S. Merry Xmas all :xmassmileThe MSE Dictionary

But bidding on competitors items either to sneak a cheap win ( theres no probs in that ) or ensure price integrity in the market I'm selling in, This may not be against ebays poicies but its defo wrong.
We would be up in arms on here saying report report report a shill bidder, just coz hintza isnt bidding on one sellers items to keep the price equal they cant be reported legally for shill bidding
As i have said i have often bought to sell on but i have never pushed prices up to make sure my items get the best price.
Merry Christmas All

If I win I pay; where's the problem. I am doing exactly what you do (to resell), I am just possibly more methodical in my approach. I know my market I know what I can afford to spend and I know what others are willing to pay. Thats why its called a market.....too cheap and I arbitrage it.
Simple; no rules being broken and not wrong.0 -
Hintza i aint saying you aint paying and i cant see a problem at all with buying to resell.
I do however see a problem with pushing prices up to make sure your items get the best price.
I also know you aint breaking any given rules on shill bidding

Unfortunately, you get stroked every time you buy anything. See some prices in the sales you wouldn't have believed possible before Xmas but you can bet your boots they're still making a profit!
This is the market economy - you have to be astute at the best of times and if you can manage some arbitrage, so much the better. Stoozing is also arbitrage and is practised by many MSEers who feel they are biting back, ethically or not, at rich corporations which do it to all and sundry at every opportunity.

That ain't necessarily so. They may need to sell the goods to clear out space for new lines, for instance.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -

Looks like his account has been reinstated and he's dealing succesfully in PS2s, Xboxes and peripherals!
