This is worse than quoting from the Bible to suit whatever cause you want to be punting at the time.

You were the quoting from the bible (twice on this thread) and also re-emphasising the point.

You are obviously a lazy buyer. Research the market, know what your bidding on, know when to buy it and stop moaning when someone can make a decent turn!!

Why not just research your market....like I do.

How do you know i dont as my ebay id is nothing like the user name on here.

The point i am making and you seem to have missed it is

We all like a ebay bargian i have bought on there loads of times to resell when the market picks back up theres nothing wrong in that.

But what you are doingis making sure the niche you sell in stays pretty much at the same buying level buy pushing the prices up on other sellers items so yours get the best price and the market stays at that level.

To me its the same as shill bidding And if you cant see that theres no point in me going over the same points to you

    Seconded, Gromituk.
  • An awful lot of drivel written on this thread methinks!

Unfortunately those of you on the "he shouldnt do it" are clearly mistaking the difference between good morals and making a buck! You would have thought that people would realise that quite often the 2 dont go hand in hand!!

Personally I think that what hintza is doing is "pushing the moral boundaries" but nothing else. Im not even convinced the shill bidding argument holds up because it doesnt appear he is in cohoots with anyone anyway.

The marketplace is massive, the variety and availability of stock is huge it basically comes down to "Caveat Emptor."

Im also a believer in market forces/market balance. Hintza can only do this a small number of times before other "cheaper" sources will become available in most product lines.

That's a pointless thing to say. We're not talking about "the marketplace" here - we're talking about the market for the particular products he is dealing with. As we don't know what they are, we're all speculating, but he has boasted that he can influence this market so it must be pretty small.

Again, without knowing what we are dealing with, it's impossible to be so sure. It might take a lot of investment for someone to be able to enter this market, for instance.

Will we? If this product is only available from this limited number of sellers, who are buying and selling between themselves to maintain an artificially high price, how can people who actually want the damned things not lose out?

    Again well said gromit.

Hintza is legally not shilling bidding but hes no better than a seller who gets a friend to push the price up on there item.

    The reason why
is hes bidding on the same items he sells to make sure sure his item gets the same price as the rest of the sellers

And we are all very very quick on MSE to say report other sellers for shill bidding and rightly so

By buying an item to sell on at an inflated price, it is stopping others who actually want the item to use from buying it at a cheaper price.

It would be like Tesco's nipping into Morrisons and buying up all their cheaper priced heinz beans so people would be forced to go to Tescos to get them.

Slightly different scale, I know, but it was the best analogy I could think of at this late hour.

Spot on, thats my take on this too.

To be perfectly honest most of my sales take place off Ebay, in fact I haven't sold an item on EBay for over 1 month, I can get better prices on my own site. In fact I very much doubt that many more of my sales will take place on EBay. But I as sure as hell bid on any that I see. In fact at this moment in time I will take all that I can get (see my example; this is the item I am talking about).

I can and will bid on any item that I wish if I want to corner the market I will. I am not beholding to anyone on here. I invest my time and money and if you wish to beat me you can...my bids and the highest prices that I am willing to pay are there for all to see.

Not for any of us to see, as we don't know who you are or what you are selling!
