I am so glad that this issue has been raised because i popped in Asda today for some flowers and the woman in front of me purchsed 30 tubes of puree, which i thought was a bit odd.... THEN I had to pop into my local Tesco earlier (forgot the mince for the bolognese!) and someone there had 15 tubes in their basket.....
Bizarre going's on with tomatoes or people with strange fetishes ....0 -
This is definitely the next "where have all the bees gone?" issue! I have had problems on and off over past 2 months at asda, tesco + coop!! vanishing tomato puree is obviously the next big storyline for Dr Who etc!
Who knows where this recession will end?!0 -
it's all in my cupboard, after weeks of Tesco having none they finally had some a couple of weeks back so I cleared the shelf in case...;)

I'd better look out for some, I'm down to the last third of the tube I've got in the fridge.
Did notice that Asda's Smart Price tinned plum tomatoes had increased from 19p to 29p the other week (they were down to 26p last Friday).0 -
Talking tomato - has anyone noticed the HUGE increase on a can of chopped tomatos - I usually by the Napolina - OMG I couldnt believe how the price has jumped.
Mr S has gone up as well - but its still cheaper.
The passata has done a disapearing act as well !What goes around comes around !! Simple but very true :rotfl:0 -

This is really bizarre because I was only saying to my OH that tinned tomatoes had increased in price dramatically in the last 10 days. Tesco Value tomatoes are now 29p per can instead of 22p. I also checked out Lidl and Somerfield (as I wondered if Tesco were trying to recoup some of their other price cuts by adding it on to their value range) but both of these stores have also increased their price to 29p per can. Perhaps there is a tomatoe shortage????0 -
