I went looking for some at our local (Carlisle) Mr T's at the weekend.
All the shelves had were some 'Sorry' labels, apart from some Sun Dried Tomato Puree, which was actually very nice and was only about 60p. There was also some garlic puree of the same brand for 44p and that was good as well.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
There wasn't any (in tubes) on Ocado last week, seem to remember this happening last year or the year before. Couldn't get hold of any for weeks.0

EDIT - Sorry, that link was from 2002. It must be time to go home soon...

Had to read this thread, thought just my local tesco being slow to get it in or just trying to make people pay for premium stuff. Fortunately managed to buy a little can for my spag bol last week but would be interested to know what the problem is.0

This made me giggle as I thought it was just me! We were talking about this at work last week - it seems to be a national thing. I've been looking for some for a few weeks, I usually buy Mr T own brand -the shelves were bare, tere were a few expensive brand(at double the price). Mr S had afew own brand at double Mr T price. Last week I have to confess to buying the last six boxes at Mr T at about 26p a box, I thought I'd better stockpile!:rotfl::j0

It's usually an enviromental factor when a shortage occurs disease, drought, frost etc. I remember there was no honey for about 2 months a few years back. What's the chance of the price rocketing when it does come back?AKA: PC

Aha! So you've got the last of the nation's supply...
Glad it's not just me going mad! I do get through quite a bit of it and have not been able to buy for a few weeks. There must be some tomato related problem, as Princess Coupon says.

Oh , I wouldn't have squirted the last of my tube in the pasta bake if I had known there was a shortage. I did notice the basic tomatoes in Sainsburys had gone up quite a bit this week. I don't know if there is any connection.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

You should have treasured it. I'm right out now and my chilli tonight is decidedly watery...!0 -
