I used my LLoyds ATM card in a cash machine at tesco which is owned by RBS. Withdrew £90. I heard the machine counting out but the drawer didn't open for me to take my money.
Put card back in to check and the money had been deducted.
I stood outside the cash machine for ages in case it miraculously opened - nothng. Phoned RBS from the number on the cash machine who assurred me it would be credited back to my account. I even went to tell the customer service desk in store who were not in the least interested.
ANyways, this is 8 weeks ago. I have TWICE filled in a dispute form at Lloyds and TWICE it has come back denied. No reason given. Lloyds now tell me to contact RBS directly but I think Lloyds should be taking it further.
Popped into RBS for advice and they told me to go back to Lloyds.
Am I going to get my money back and who is responsible???

The machine has nothing to do with tesco so dont know why you asked them, isnt it up to lloyds to get the money back to you0

I thought so too but they told me today that there is nothing more they can do.
At the end of the day, I didn't get my money and someone somewhere must be responsible? No-one wants to take the matter further0 -
I went in to Tesco because although it's not their machine I feel that seeing their name is on it (tesco finance) they should shoulder some of the responsibility.0

my opinion is that as its not tescos machine its nothing to do with them, i might be wrong0 -
Nothing to do with Lloyds as you effectively purchased money from RBS and they didn't deliver, so your dispute is with them. You should still dispute the charge with Lloyds though.
RBS will know how much money was put in the machine and how much was paid out. They can do a reconciliation - they do not actually count the cash in and out they use cartridges full of cash filled at the depot. They will know that the cash point machine was up £90 or not at the end of the day.
You need to ask specifically for an ATM dispute form.
If you don't get anywhere try the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).0 -

How do you figure that out? That'll just mean it takes Tesco Finance products like the list of all the other things it will take. Are you expecting anyone else listed on the machine whos products/cards it takes to also take responsibility?0 -
It's RBS responsibility as they own the machine.
The process is that you fill in the form at your bank who send it on to the dispute bank. They should then check the rolls (like large receipt rolls in the supermarket) which print all transactions on them and should (hopefully) show a fault against your card. They should also check their cash reconcilliation for the machine to see if they wer £20 over but this is less reliable as over the course of a week you will have a number of over and under payments so net position could be anywhere.
It seems like you've gone through this and RBS are saying their systems look fine.
I would raise a complaint with them and ask to see a copy of your card transaction from the rolls. This is your best bet to see an error.0 -

An easy mistake to make.....
I can see how one could assume that as my local Tesco cash machine says it is a Tesco cash machine and is actually Branded Tescos
Not everyone knows that it is actually an RBS machine.0 -

They actually all have signs written on saying who owns/manages it etc. The op's obviously seen it. So I don't think it's an easy mistake to make. I think it's more a case of some people will be optimistic that they can hopefully get others involved and that one of them will give them some money.0 -
Personally speaking i dont have £90 to lose........or get eaten up by banks and their machines!
Its an outrage! :mad:0
