Ok, in all honesty, we all need to chill out a bit. First of all, let's just be thankful were getting ANY SUPPORT WHATSOEVER. The government isn't obliged to cover the first part of our savings but they said they will guarantee we will NOT MISS OUT. Considering Iceland has no money of its own now, we are very lucky to get the governments help. I think if Icesave had more customers, they wouldn't have been so quick to guarantee all the savings.
I'm just as frustrated as the next man. I have ALL my savings in Icesave (granted it's only 3.5k, but it's everything and I can't afford to lose it), but all this b1tching and moaning isn't going to get anyone anywhere.
Please, let's just be grateful for what guarantees we do have and just sit tight.0 -
Thieving b@stards. :mad:0 -

I'm afraid that many of us are no longer prepared to believe the government line on this, especially since it's become clear the FSCS won't pay out a single penny, not even what it's liable for under law, before the money has been obtained from Iceland.0 -

Well, it's only been what, 3 weeks? I'd like to see ANYONE moaning on here get iceland to agree to and organise a mass compensation scheme in that amount of time.
Throwing our toys out of our prams isn't going to help.0 -

Asking for information isn't unreasonable. All we have had officially is that the govt will cover all money in icesave. Anything after that can be boiled down to "we're working on it".
I understand this process takes time but they could tell us if they're going to pay upfront and claim back from Iceland for the taxpayer or if we have to wait for Iceland to pay first?
To have absolutely nothing concrete weeks after this happened isn't really good enough. It's understandable that people are concerned, there's a lot at stake.0 -
Last time I save - this is so unfair, I should've bought a new car etc. not save to buy my house... now I'm loosing money in interest... still no info from FSCS :mad:0
