I booked two nights last time. It specifically said in the FAQs before the last sale that it was okay for couples to do this, however they have since taken that bit down... It still says one room per person, however it's not explicit whether they still mean couples can have two nights or not? It's maybe worth someone dropping the Hoxton a quick email - they're very helpful and friendly people.

I used a Visa debit card for one of my bookings and it went through fine.

Can't go this time, so good luck to everyone trying to get a room. I'm holding out for the next sale!

I have a Visa debit and on the card options there is a Visa option but it does say type of credit card and in the FAQ's it says:
'What do I do if I need to book using a debit card?
You can pay by debit card over the phone but this is the only option for this type of booking. '

Do you think they'll just class a Visa as a Visa or not?

I've paid for both my rooms using a Visa debit card before

I think trying to get 2 nights is definitely not within the spirit of the terms of this offer! There are enough people trying to get just the one night, so please just play fair guys, & give everyone a chance.
Play fair? Then we shouldn't use the roboform or the html site. :p Its fastest finger first I'm afraid.
Last time I got two nights for £1 and £29, it was no problem when I booked in, they made sure we were in the same room each night. They may have changed their view now, and if anyone phones and gets a definitive answer I would be interested to know the answer! Likewise on the John and Jane issue- just as people are taxed separately I think it would be hard to argue that a couple couldn't book a room each on subsequent nights.Otherwise it would be discrimination against married people.
In fact, I think that is how we did the £1 and £29 room now that I think about it.
Eco wise, its better for the environment if you can use the room for two nights- saves on laundry and makes a trip to London more of a possibility if you live far away- lets not be prejudiced against northerners. They deserve a break too.;)
  • The last-but-one time (last time i missed the 'promotional rates' link) i was able to book a £1 and £29 room under my name and there was no problem. I'm fairly sure that time it said in the T&Cs that you could try and get a £29 room as well as the £1...this is not ever so clear this time.

So, I've booked one of the nights i wanted tonight at £59 (which to my mind is still a bargain...I've been to the Hox and know that its well worth that much). Tomorrow I'll just be trying to get the night before at £1/£29 to extend the stay, whilst already being guiaranteed one night out...albeit for a little more money :p Nothing like getting excited about a stay just before the sale, failing miserably and then having nothing at the end of it.

It doesn't look to me as if it would be a problem booking a subsequent £29 room. The rules say- If you book more than one room for one night at £1, we reserve the right to cancel all bookings
    - it doesn't mention the £29 in that section.
In the ts and cs it states-
Can we book a first night at £1 and the second night at £29?
If you have been successful in booking a £1 room, and wish to reserve an additional night please click on £29 button at the bottom of the £1 booking screen. This will take you directly to our £29 room booking screen.
    Similarily-
Can a couple book one night each at a £1?
Please note that we have limited the number of rooms that can be booked during the sale. Yes you are allowed, as the rules state that you are only allowed to book one room, for one night PER PERSON at a £1. If we find that any individual has managed to book more than 1 room at this rate, we reserve the right to cancel the all bookings and we will notify you that we have done this by e-mail with cancellation numbers.
So that answers the John and Jane question.
  • Thanks for the info everyone, so it looks like one can book a £1 and £29 room. Otherwise, £1 plus £59 is a great deal too.
  • can you book via the HTML version, or has it got to be the Java version which will be slower?

is there certain booking buttons you have to click instead of the normal way of book?

    thanks

  • Hello

Do you know what kin of days it will be best to secure a £1 or even £29 room for. Ideally I would like Fri/Sat but so will everyone else. Does anybody have any tips for a First Time Buyer?
