PartyLite - (Hints & Tips)

Do any of you sell in other ways than parties, and if so what do you do? Tell me if Im being nosey, just looking for more ideas... With fetes and things like that how do you find out whats going on...I have no idea whats going on locally to me.
I do local fairs, bridal fairs, fundraisers etc looking on netmums, gumtree and local papers to see whats happening.
I also have a contact base who have been to parties and just want to order directly from me as they don't want to hold parties - these are called book parties and depending on size of orders depends on wether I give them a discount or not - which is using the hostess credit - I always allow them to buy from guest specials.
I tell everyone at my parties if they want to be added to my mailing list then give me an email address and every month I send them the specials offers.
Im sure other girls do things differently and they will come along and tell you.:beer:I get paid to party!:rotfl:0 -
Some good ideas there for me to think about, I tried looking earlier for fetes, fairs etc but couldnt find any, I'll have to keep looking.0

I use vistaprint - they're fab and inexpensive but you can get business cards with the proper Partylite logo on if you buy them through head office. There's an order form on the website.
Yes but these are really expensive in comparison. I just got one of the standard vistaprint logos and i think i paid just under £6 for 500 business cards (there was an offer for ordering another 250. whereas the partylite ones would have cost about £20 for 500 cards.0 -

Hi Candlegirl
thanks for the clarification on the use of the logo.
what did you put on your thankyou postcards - can you remember how much they cost? i do like the partylite ones but as i've just started i am looking at my cheapest options until i'm up and running!0 -

I just thanked them for having a party - was nice meeting them & their friends - looked forward to seeing them again. and told them to re-order anytime etc (something along they lines anyway)
I also have have postcards which I send to my hostess's as soon as they book a party just saying that their date is a confirmed date in my diary and tell them they will get a party pack 2 weeks before their party date if they have booked that far in advance - this is usefull as they can put postcard on their fridge or noticeboard in kitchen so they don't forget:TI get paid to party!:rotfl:0 -
Thanks - great idea about sticking the postcard on the fridge!0

LOL nothing huge really. I joined a Mums website local to my area and they do coffee mornings so I thought I would hold a coffee morning and try and sell some stuff. The one snag is that I think a lot of mums don't want candles when they have babies/toddlers but never fear I will be there with my reed diffuser.:D
Re the earlier question about the tax office. Do you need to earn a certain amount before contacting the tax office? I don't intend to take on Partylite as a career just a bit of fun and extra pocket money. Does that make a difference?Lightbulb moment: 14 May 2008Debt free date: April 2014DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 188Nightowl Member No 160 -
As far as I understand you still have to register as self employed - you'll need to do a self assessment. I have my own business and i have to register partylite as a separate business - you also nned to keep a record of all your expenses like kit you buy and mileage etc as all these things can be deducted as business expenses then tax will only be calculated on whats left.0

Remember in our line of business - party plan - load of things are tax deductable so make sure you keep all receipts - this will help at end of year when your tax bill is so much smaller.

I signed up to receive extra information and all I got was a bill from the Royal Mail because the person who sent me through my info had under paid the postage!
Definitely a no from me if they can't even stick postage on an envelope!0
