Hi there
I am having my starter show on Saturday and really looking forward to it. I intend to take this on as a hobby at the moment partly because I am working and partly because I don't expect to make much on it. I live in a pretty poor area and am worried that there are just too many people round here who prefer to buy their gifts etc at pound shops (of which there are many round here lol).
I was thinking about holding stalls at local school/church fayres, slimming clubs and other places like that. Has anyone found any success doing this?
I have never done any kind of selling from home like this. Do you need to be pushy? I guess everything will come with practice but I am nervous about selling myself. Also my sponsor is not in my area and I have no idea if there is any training or meetings in my area.
Would love some advice. Thanks.Lightbulb moment: 14 May 2008Debt free date: April 2014DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 188Nightowl Member No 160 -

What you are feeling is completely normal - relax, chill and take a big breath (lol)
I have done various fairs, stalls etc and found great success - as long as you don't go there to sell but to make contacts - e.g. I use a candle questionare which your leader can give you has 4 or 5 questions on it and everyone who comes to my stall and shows some interest then I ask them these questions and find quite alot of parties this way. I also give ou a single tealight to anone who burns candles but never burned partylite along with a candle care tip card and my business card and ask them for their phone number to call them in a couple of weeks to see how they got on and this is helps get parties and also new people interested in partylite - as once most people have tried they love.
You don't need to be pushy at all - I love partylite and was a buyer before joining up so can say I truly love the products and just talk to people not in a pushy manner but just general chit chat -works for me .
You need to be informative - esp at your parties and tell people the reason why they should hold a party - what the incentives are .
Training does help but does not need to be directly - email and phone works just as well - im a unit leader and have various sponsors all over the UK, and keep my girls updated every few days on what going on etc and Im always at the end of the phone - Im sure your leader will be the same.
If you are still having some reservations then pls talk to your upline she/he will really want to help you.
Take care and good luck

Also my friend in america is keen to start PartyLite - I presume this wouldn't count as a sponsor as she's in a different country - is that right?
I know it's ok to sponsor as soon as we start but do i have enough experience?
Thanks and looking forward to chatting more - your experiences are really inspiring[/quote]

Hi Justme
I've just started as well - have had my starter party and as it was so successful really want another 3 parties with a view to bonusing and getting my brite start bonus but so far no-one has booked! Some people are being really lovely - apologising for not holding a show for me so am starting to feel like a pest! now have about 5 that will have shows in the future but i need some now!
Will be at a charity event this week so really hopeful I can get a few bookings from that. I was planning to have my kit and a few other items on display - some my own stuff from parties and also my leader is lending me march specials. i am going to do the candle questionnaire - hopefully everyone won't arrive at once so i get to talk to a few people
Don't think i have enough stock to give out some freebies - was wondering if there is any postage to pay when we order candles for ourselves - as possibly need to do stock up on wax.
will let you know how i get on!0 -
Does anyone know which facebook link is the one mentioned on an earlier page of this thread? there are loads of partylite facebook groups0

Best of luck with it. I have a feeling I am going to find that I will get the bookings but not the sales. A few friends have said they will hold parties for me but can't afford to buy anything!Lightbulb moment: 14 May 2008Debt free date: April 2014DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 188Nightowl Member No 160 -

Hopefully all their guests can afford to buy stuff and you'll be off to a great start! Maybe you could sponsor your friends so they can earn a bit extra cash;-)0 -
