  • I spend less than £1 as I eat my lunch at home most days. Sometimes nothing if I have leftovers from dinner the night before :)
  • I try to make my own as much as possible but if I dont have time I spend around £1.80 on a sandwich.
The area I work in is insane and a £6 salad is considered normal!
  • Far too much!!! anything from £3-£6 a day.

Sounds lovely. Since finding this site, I reckon we spend under £2 a day each (and my other half needs to take three snacks just to survive/avoid buying ham and cheese croissants!)

I spend approx. £5.00 per day for lunch
  • I love taking my pack lunch into work with me. So a nice new lunch box set would be awesome.

I probably spend less that £1 a day.

    Thanks!
  • Hi

if I'm prepared, its the left overs (about twice a week) otherwise its a can of soup (70p) or as a treat from the staff canteen about once a week, around £4 but I take in my own coffee so am saving around £2.50 a day on that!
    Debt free date ????
Personal Debts (£30366.77 - includes student loan £17118.10)
    Joint Debts (£6856.78)
  • I spend around £2.50 a day on my lunch, i really need to start saving money and eating fresh. x
  • Packed lunch consists of a flask of homemade soup ~ 20p, 1 slice of bread ~ 5p, bag of crisps (from aldi) ~ 10p, banana and apple (most expensive bit) ~50p and coffee (decaf) from jar in cupboard at work.

Sooooooooooo all in all, it's less than £1 per day and cheaper if the fruit is on offer in the shops. Usually save a piece of fruit for afternoon snack to head off the "I'm bored" hunger pangs.

Couldn't justify spending £3 per day in the Asda over the road every day. Even went so far as to suggest that Boss brings her own lunch in now as she is a single parent family with 4 kids. Made suggestions of pasta salad done in bulk and eaten over a few days, sandwiches made in advance and frozen (take out on day of munching in the morning and they'll be defrosted by lunchtime), bulk salad making to last a few days with a cheap tin of tuna mixed in on the day, SOUP of course! There aren't many people in our staffroom who go out to buy lunch these days.

Wouldn't mind a look at one of those big flasky compartment things for taking leftover curry/rice and hot puddings to work in. One of my students' brothers has one because he's a fussy eater and he has allsorts for school lunch now. Shall have to see if I can have a nosey. Anyone else got one or tried one? ...........
Striving down south to stay northern and tight! :rotfl:
  • I buy FRubes cos they're always on 2 for 1 and then freeze them so he has one every day. A peanut butter or marmite sandwich, one chocolate item always bought on special offers and put in packed lunch cupboard so not to be snacked on! Dilute fruit juice, own brand sugar free. one piece of fruit bought direct from green grocers. Sometimes a packet of crisps again own brand always bought on special offer if not he doesn;t get them. So whole thing is estimated at under a pound a day. Cheaper than school dinners BUT we should support school dinners or they may go completely so he has one dinner a week!!
