It will need to restart itself..... be careful though, quite often they send updates through the phone lines over night...'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0

I'd like to join the challenge please.
Our readings at 1600 (when I meant to type this!) were 0469 high rate and 0295 low rate.
There are 3 of us (two adults, one 20 month old) plus a dog! No gas, everything is done on electric, and we have Economy 7 so dodgy storage heaters. OH has a habit of leaving lots of lights on, and falls asleep evey day with the TV on..... and he's a night worker, so he does it at peak elec cost time:mad:  He will be the harder one to convert....'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0 -
Our baseline is a 4 bed house which we use the attic too (my brother has a kinda bedsit up there) two siting rooms, kitchen dining room and two loos/bthrooms.
2 kids, one brother (he's the harder to convince I have to say) 2 dogs, 1 cat and couple chookies who to be fair live outside. oh yeah and a greenhouse which has electric too. and of course me!!
We have oil central heating which runs radiators and funny kinda blower heater things they use electricity??, I have an electric oil radiator by my desk cos I work in the dining room - cooking is electric etc most of the light sockets have about 4-6 bulbs in each one which we have reduced to two mostly energy saving ones. We run an electric owl thing and it helps me alot.
Just shifted to online scottish power, i think they have no daily charge but the eletric is tiered (15.9 p a unit til 900kwh then its 11.4p unit)
(previous hydro elec had a charge of 16p a day/ and were flat rate 13p a unit)
No idea if i did the right thing changingbut i hope so

- Turn the fish tank off for a few hours a day
I'd just like to say that the above idea should only be used by those who have COLD WATER fish and only for a minimum amount of time as we can't let our pets suffer while trying to lower our bills.
For all those who own Tropical fish, the pumps and heating MUST stay on day AND night and only ever be switched off when you're doing the regular water change.
Can't think of any more savers though pandapaws, I think you've pretty much covered them all. Well done on this, it's a great idea.

TheBees would like to join in with this please but this is not a good time to start for us as it's half term next week and we'll be using a lot more electric all being at home off school and work!!
I hadn't thought of that, we are all off next week too!! Oh well, will carry on with the test week this week and then see how we go:D0 -
Our electricity meter, as of 11.17AM on Wednesday is 24828.
Hopefully we will get it down as its £90 a month right now!!! Weve just chnged from Scottish Power, and they were £40 more!!!  :eek:0 -
Aaaah, people have pointed out what I forgot ; half term  , although I think we're fairly energy conscious here anyway : 2 bed maisonette (3 outside walls, neighbours below & on one side) with DD & myself. I work from home so use power during the day - many cups of coffee too - but I always turn the tv & digi box off at the wall, it resets itself when you turn it on again
. I also use fresh air or the radiators to dry clothes - going for the cheap rather chic style & only when I know ther'll be no visitors
.
I'm off to find out the economy seven times for my supplier now ...

Pandapaws - both my children are in nappies at night (not in day) and my DS sleeps in my bed (when my fella not here) and as the electric blanket is on ym bed. I put it on when he goes bed for a hour. I wouldnt use if you think your LO would wet the bed tbh.Sealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320

Ooh, what a good idea. Completely blindingly obvious as well - how come I've never thought of that before? Will have a look through all our old curtains to see if there are any that can be added as extra lining. Thanks!
It was only desparation last year which made me think of it, i made them from the supersoft lightweight blankets you can buy which are very dense. They really helps as our patio doors are about 8ft by 7ft and very drafty0
