Hello everyone
I have a query regarding an outstanding council tax bill from last year for the amount of 650.00. Me and my partner got behind on this bill and have been making payments to the council every month for the amount of 100.00. they have been demanding we pay 260.00 per month but due to having children we just do not have this money disposable to us after all our othr utilitie bills, etc. We have now received an Attachment Of earnings letter stating they are to take 220.00 ish!!!a month directly form my partners earnings!!
We are in the process of filing for bankrupcy as we now owe 20,000 in debt and do not have any other option but to do this. my query is can we include the attachment of earnings in ot the bankrupcy or is it too late???If so do we have any grounds to ask if this amount can be reduced as we would not be able to feed or clothe our children without this money??Please help, we are incredibly worried. These people make you feel useless and like you dont care which is far from the case, we are desperate to sort this out!!
Thankyou everyone0 -
Hi Everyone,
This is my first post & I've been putting it off for quite a while as I'm really nervous about the whole thing. I've started my debt-remedy with CCCS on their website & I'm very hopeful that they'll be able to help me. However I'm really concerned and ashamed about a credit card debt of about £600 that I started at an old address & didn't tell the company that I had moved! I really want to sort it out and pay them back so would really appreciate anyone's advice. Thanks in advance.0 -
Hi. I was just wondering if anyone knew trhat when you have made a final payment on a ccj do they send you a letter to confirm its your last payment and that particular debt is satisfied?
I know CCJ's stay on record for 6 years but i just need to know if they confirm an end of payment type thing?0 -

I live abroad and my daughter(23) is in severe debt in the UK. She has actually contacted yourselves by telephone and was told you were unable to help her because she owed more than her incoming income. She actually only owes £5000 max but can get no help from no-one. She has no credit rating so cannot get a loan of any sort except with high APR's. Also she has been told by National Debtline she doesn't owe enough!!! She has written to her creditors to try to make a reduced payment and they have all refused saying they want all or maybe a small reduction for settlement straight away. She has the bailiffs round for council tax and she has made herself so ill that she has anxiety/panic attacks on a regular basis which has caused her to have time off work giving her even less money. She knows it is all her fault for sticking her head in the sand but has anyone any suggestions. I would obviously help if I could but unfortunately that is not possible.0

Hi I owe alot of money on credit cards (approx £80K).
So far I have managed the mimimum payments each month but I am getting to the point where I am struggling to do this.
Before things get any worse I want to try and negotiate a payment plan with the credit cards. My fear is as soon as I do this I will lose my credit facilities. One of the credit cards I use for work and need it to fund my petrol (I am a salesman) I get expenses refunded every 2 weeks so they see a good repayment.
What do I need to do before I approach they card companies?0 -
Hi I'm new to all of this so please forgive me if I've no idea what I'm doing!
I used to have an IVA with Gregory Pennington but left them a couple of years ago to go with CCCS instead (was fed up of paying a mangement fee and insurance!). My debts were all at collections agencies when I joined CCCS and with the payments I'm currently making, I'm going to be debt free in about 18 months.
Is the debt management plan I have with CCCS like an IVA and will my credit file be affected for years after?
Thanks Michelle:A0 -
Hi
I had a CCJ from Yorkshire bank for £1800 they have now sold the debt to Phoenix S.A.R.L and they are using Marlin finacial services to collect the debt.
The CCJ went into arrears Through my own pig headednes and now they have treatend me with a Statuatory demand, I offered them £100 a month to clear the dept but they refused saying its too late and they want 450 a month. I have morgage arrears im paying off and other debts im in arrers with that i am slowly paying off, What i need to know is, is there anything i can do to get marlin to be more resonable and accept a paymet i can afford as £450 will leave me with about - £200 a month. I know that i am in this situation through my own stupidity but i could really do with some advice now.
thanks.0 -

yellowpoodle wrote: »Hi,
I am new to the site, and new to trying to sort out my finances - tears etc have been frequent in the past couple of days!
So I have a couple of questions:
I have been recommended the DMP and need to understand the implications on 3 things:
1. I have a company credit card, which is paid off in full every month, and need for my expenses, I couldn't be without this as work expenses are approx £500 per month. In addition I don't want my HR division to know of my financial circumstances. Would this be acceptable to maintain - basically I submit the expenses then Corporate Card money is then debited to my account 1 day before the payment is taken.
2. I pay a loan which I took out with my ex. This money comes from my bank, but is in his name. If I take the DMP, I need this to be included - would this be possible - again I don't want him to know what is happening with my finances.
3. I have not missed any payments, but have been going over my overdraft which means that for 2 weeks every month I have no money and can't continue like this. Are creditors likely to accept if as far as they can see they are getting payments in full everytime?
Many thanks for your help with this.
Hi Yellowpoodle
If it is a company credit card it would normally be under the company’s name and you would only be an additional card holder, so the responsibility for the debt is the company’s not yours so it would be ok.
If you had an appointment we would need to look at this payment when we asses your situation as it depends on what affect this would have on your overall situation.
With going over your overdraft each month you are obviously struggling with your situation at the moment. In most people’s situations they are paying full payments up until a point when they can no longer do so, and creditors are used to seeing people in this situation so do not worry about it.
You need to prioritise yourself and put creditors second.
If you have not had an appointment yet and would like to speak to a debt counsellor about your situation you can book a telephone based appointment by calling our helpline free on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00.
