    hello CCCS
I am brand new to this so if I'm doing it wrong - sorry!
I have a DMP through CCCS ( just into its second year- I owe £14,500- living a lifestyle I couldn't afford followed by health necessitated job change and income cut of £10, 000, followed by a child going off to university)and have just sent my review details in - am able to double my payments to £121 pcm as I have changed jobs and earn more. I am waiting to hear about the review but... I am expecting to come into about £5000 that I was planning to send to CCCS but now I have been trawling this thread I recall seeing someone advising another individual NOt to make one off payments to a DMP and instead to save it with a view to making a full and final payment offer.
    What would you advise?
    Thanks

    Hi Was a Ski Bunny

You can make F&F offer to creditors no problem which would reduce your debt overall, and allow payments to be increased to your remaining creds or possibly clear your debt in full.
For the debts to be removed from your plan if they have been cleared you would normally have to show that the debt has been cleared for this to be removed, but for further information call the number on you monthly statement to find the best way to do this.

The choice is really yours but we cannot say if the creditors would accept F&F payments but it can be worth a try.

If you would prefer to make a lump sum payment onto your DMP, again call the number on your monthly statement. They can discuss both options with you to help you make a choice if you are still undecided.

    Regards

    Hello CCCS

I have my appointment next week to speak to someone about my situation. I have recently returned to full time study but I'm getting funding from the university which I will use to pay my debt. I have tried to reduce my outgoings as much as possible and gained additional help from my husband i.e. he will be paying all household bills including the rent so that my studentship from the university can go fully towards my debt. My husband is also suffering financially but seems to 'cope' better than I do but this does mean that he has to work all hours that god sends just to keep our heads above water. My question is - will the creditors need to know about his financial situation [will they assume he has enough money to get me out of debt?] as I do not want to drag him into this. Not that he is in the position to help me any more than paying all joint bills.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your message.

You don’t have to justify yourself to your creditors. However from the information you have given in your post, it does look like you may be better looking at a joint budget.

For this we could add all the household income, expenditure and debt then any surplus can go between both of your creditors.

Tackling the debs together may overall make things more manageable for you both.

    Another very worried person here.

I have a Halifax credit card debt of 15k. Have been paying regular payments to a debt agency and increasing the amount as and when I can afford it. It's now a £100 per month.

I have just received a statement from the Halifax asking for the full payment of 15k.

What are the steps I need to take?

Any advice would be appreciated - I have no CCJ's and this is the only debt I have.

    Many thanks

Is this a standard letter or County Court claim forms (Blue and White forms)?

If it is just a standard letter, continue paying what you can afford i.e. the £100. Have you sent them a financial statement? If not, look at putting one together and post this off to them to back up your amount.

If it is a County Court claim form, complete them and send them back as soon as possible with your income and expenditure – PM me for more details.

If you are paying £100 per month, this is going to take you quite a lot of time to clear the debts, so you may want to look at ways of increasing your income to get the debt cleared quicker. If there is no way you can increase your income, then you may be better calling for an appointment to see if there is a better solution for you.

If you would like an appointment please call 0800 138 1111.

    Hello,

I have a DMP with cccs and the outstanding balance is about £2500 (i haven't received statements for a while). I was wondering how full and final settlements work, now that I'm nearing the end-ish. My OH really wants me to get rid of my debts and is willing to help. Would it simply be a case of paying the full £2500 for example, or would the creditors accept less than this?

    Thank you.

You would be able to offer a reduced amount to your creditors to clear the debt. How much really depends on what creditor, how long it would take to clear the debt etc.

If you were in a situation where you had the money to clear the debts, call our client support department and they will be able to send you some sample letters out which you could use.

PM me if you need the client support number.

  • Thank you for your reply Sarah. However, my husband is not interested in DMP's, IVA's etc and we do keep our finances very seperate [no joint accounts, bills etc]. He is self employed and income is not at all constant. So I'm going to have to do this one alone but just wanted to make sure that because I'm married they will not expect anything from more from him since he is paying everything else apart from my debt.

One other question, if you don'd mind.....your response to worried bear is that if s/he only pays 100pcm it will take it will take long to repay the 15k debt i.e. 12 years. I'm in the same situation as my debt is 53k, I'm hoping to pay 400 pcm so at that rate it will take a long time in theory BUT I am will be working full time again in 4 years [once my course is completed] so would hope to at least double that amount. Would that be taken into consideration?

    Hi all

Im looking for a bit of advice if possible?

My partner and I are struggling at the mo to make ends meet.

We have a mortgage and both have a credit card (£2500 and £300 outstanding on both). We both have a store card with £100 outstanding). We have not yet missed any payments but we feel that we might miss a payment soon if we dont do anything.

We have contacted CCCS but unfortunately have had to cancel both appointments due to work comittments.

We are thinking of taking out a loan.

I was wondering whether because the debt is not a massive amount, we are still able to get advice from CCCS and whether CCCS can actually help us. After we have paid bills, mortgage, credit card, we have about 100 left over to last us for a month.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Becky
  • Hi there

I am contemplating contacting CCCS re a debt repayment plan, but hopefully only regarding my husband's and possibly my credit card debt.

My husband is self employed and due to the state of the economy his work has taken a real nose dive and we are now struggling. He is PAYE at the minute in a very low paid factory job.

Everyone is getting paid at present, however my husband missed a credit card payment last month and now the minimum payment has doubled and we haven't got a hope in hell of making it.

The cc company have telephoned him and he explained the problems we are having, they weren't really interested but pretty much encouraged him to go on a DMP.

My question is, we bought a sofa last year on a 'buy now pay next year' plan and it is due for repayment in six instalments in january. How will this work? Is it classed as a secured payment and therefore a priority or will they become a creditor? If they do, will our sofa be repossessed?

We also have a self assessment tax bill due in january which at present we can't pay. How would this work?

Many thanks for any help in this.

Hi could someone answer my question please? Many thanks
  • My husband has received a letter from a collection agency for a demand of over £6000, for a bill we paid in full 3 years ago.

My husband had an old Barlcay loan sevreal sevreal years ago that ended up in defalt, hense this went to a CCJ. basically we ended up paying a collection agency the aggreed £20 a month, until September 2005 when we we came into some money and asked for a full and final settlement. As there figure was slightly higher than we could afford we gave them a figure we could afford to which was accepted. Hooray the god knows how old debt was finally paid.

Now we have recently had a letter from a differant collection agency demanding over £6000 saying the debt was never repaid to barclays. As we haven't got any records any more of the company that we paid the 'FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT' to we have no idea who to contact to prove payment was made and nothing is owing. We were told that if we can provide a bank statement with the payment made in 2005 then they will wipe the slate but a phone call received today they have now said WE need to contact barcalys to prove the debt is paid and they won't accept the bank statement. In between all this we have been thretened with court action and bailiff's.

I have spoken to my MD at work about this situation and he tells me to just write to them refuting claims for monies as the debt was paid over 3yr's ago and THEY have to prove we owe the debt. But as we have had threats to which will distroy our credit rating which we have worked really hard on the last 2 yr's to correct I don't just want to leave it.

Could someone help me as to what i should do next and what legal rights have I got?
