DVD rental providers feedback

I took up the Lovefilm 3 months for the price of one in september after i have quite a good trial with them where discs were sent very quick and turnaround was good!
But now I wish I hadnt taken up their offer as the service this last month has been appalling
I have 4 damaged/ unplayable discs
Turnaround has been very very slow
And Ive got 31 items qued but have been waiting since friday for items to be allocated to me!
Once my special offer package expires on 28th December I will never ever use them again
I'm going to go back to blockbusters who I never ever had any problems with, they were def the best online rental providers online in my experience and I will happily become a paying subscriber to use their services again !0 -

I'm looking to move from Lovefilm to another rental company.
Wondered if anybody knew whether Amazons rental service is owned by another company?
Have looked through the website and can't see anything so just wondered if they worth a try? Has anybody got any experience of using the amazon service?April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£1500 -

Blockbuster and Choices plus a few smaller companies are your only alternatives, anything like amazon, tesco, sainsbury's are all LOVEFILM/SCREENSELECT I'm afraid. However I think sometimes you are more prioritised using an affiliate as they don't want to upset them but I'm not positive on this.0 -
Same story as many this month follownig LoveFilm's takeover of ScreenSelect. I've been a not-overly-satisfied customer of LoveFilm for 6 mopnths but virtually overnight the service went even further down the pan along with my rentals. At the beginning of October they took a week to send a rental then I've had nothing more for two weeks despite being on the 2 unlimited package. That's one film in three weeks! Emailed twice and recieved two automated answers not answering my question. Cancelled today and joined Blockbuster with the MSE free trial. Never written a post before but cancelling with one and starting with another takes 15 min so I'm afraid these people only get one chance with me. There's only three of us in my office, and one of the other 2 cancelled today aswell for the same reasons and she was still on the free trial!!! AVOID.0

Seems that the merger of lovefilm and screenselect has not gone to well.
I'd been a member with screenselect for the last few months and up until now have been perfectly happy with the service they provided.
For the last 2 weeks I have had one of my dvd's on permanant "awaiting allocation and the second takes forever to come, if I get 1 dvd a week then it seems i'm doing well. (i'm on a 2 disc package)
Unfortunately, I paid for 6 months in advance (with a month or 2 free so it seemed like a good idea at the time) so am tied in to them until March.
I truly hope they get things sorted out quickly as I know for a fact that given the choice i'd be joining the blockbuster service asap.0 -
I've been a Screenselect customer for a couple of years after leaving Lovefilm because of their slowness and couldn't give a stuff attitude. My heart sank when Screenselect was swallowed up by them but already Lovefilm have convinced me that nothing's improved.
- My selections keep getting stuck at "awaiting allocation" even though I've got 50 films in my queue.
- The website runs like a dog.
- Screenselect used to sign me in automatically each time I arrived at the site but now I have to sign in every time which is torturous with the speed of the site.
I don't think they'll keep hold of me for too long but I'm sure they don't care anyway because I dared to complain last time I was a member.
In the not too distant future I guess we'll all be downloading films from these sites so I guess this will cure most of the problems.0 -
Cancelled Lovefilm today after being sent another 2 dvd's that wouldn't play right. Discs are going back by recorded delivery cos I don't trust them to get that right. At least then I've got tracklable proof.

I signed back with screenSelect last October 2nd a day before their 3 months for the price of one offer expired
SS suddenly became LoveFilm and my billing date suddenly advanced to Nov 2nd instead of Jan 2nd 2007
I had to persist with 3 seperate emails for them to get it right again.
I think that their service is slowly improving but I still miss ScreenSelect with their freephone customer service and frequent emails informing me of when movies were received and when sent. Theres none of that with LoveFilm
I have to say though, I'm getting my movies quickly now 3 at a timeIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -

I would love to know what percentage of Lovefilm customers are also MSE members...
Its all very well saying go elsewhere but LoveFilm are monopolising the rental market in the same way ebay did with the online auctions
Buy all the competition until there isn't any.
Before you spend good money on online rentals check out your local library. DVD's are less to rent than stores and you often get them for longer.
At my library if I rent on a Friday I don't have to return them till Monday and if theres a bank holiday I get till TuesdayIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0
