Windows Aero Base Score Only 2.4. Slow Pc!!!!

Hi anewhope,
Please excuse me if i get muddled but we are in a "whole new technical territory for me now"
I tried to find a uk version of GPU-Z to download, but only USA version was avail on that website and it said i had all the current updates available. here are my results log.

Maybe this means something to you?????
To clarify what i mean by "laptop is slow"-
When I open a pageon internet explorer I get a blank screen for about3-5 seconds before webpage appears.
Start up -all seems same speed as always.
Only have a few icons down at the system tray, like printer, norton,touchpad and volume controls. I only ever have max of 3 pages open at same time.
I dont know what "Donuts" are. sorry............
The only thing I downloaded was the Open office Org as my Trial Microsoft Office" ran out . This was from a disk and took ages to download, but I needed some package to edit documents/letters.
Should I uninstall that and ,wait til I purchase a new Microsoft office package?

Is it Norton Antivirus that you have and also, the printer software, is it a monitor program that tells you how much ink you have left etc?

To anewhope - yes it is Norton antivirus and the printer icon to launch printer and check ink etc. Did my GPU-z log make any sense to you?

to tonyhague, its orange i have for my wireless, am considering changing tho to save money and to get a decent download speed.

I've had a related problem (well sort of). I have an acer 7720G with an nvidia8400m (256meg dedicated) and had a vista aero score of 3.5. I wanted more shared memory to improve graphics performance and went from 2gig to 4gig. I got the lappy to redo the assessment and it dropped to 3.4. Can't work out why myself. All 4gig are showing up in the system. Im scratching my head on this one.

Could be because the memory you've added to the system has a lower speed than that of the graphics card's RAM and therefore it can only go as fast as the slowest. More is not always better.
