  • There are far more important things in life than a dress that is going to be worn for a few hours.

I wear my lovely engagement ring every day and next year we will both have lovely wedding rings too. I'd rather spend the money on those than a dress I'd wear for a couple of hours on one day; they mean far more to me.

I've ordered a red dress from Landy that should be arriving in the next few weeks. That's my compromise for a Chinese dress for the ceremony this May, it also doubles as a trial for the real one next year for our proper wedding.

It's not the 'most important gown in my life' - it's the occasion and the person I'm sharing it with that is.

And anyway, brides always look lovely regardless of whether they have a £3,000 dress or a £150 dress.

I think after 4 years together my oh knows full well he wont be finding a ferrari engine under the bonnet. He loves me for who I am, he loves me a little bit more for every bargain I find. He doesn't need a flashy Ferrari he is happy with me and my bargain dress.
I think if I save a grand on a dress i dont mind investing £30 on undies.
    Booo!!!
  • Well, we all know that Landy are not real silk or swarowsky...

But look their ebay store has 1803 score with 100% positive, its 579 this year with 2 neutral.

I mean if you sell chewing gum, you will struggle to satisfy 1803 customers 100%. Now these are not just customers, but WOMEN, and its their wedding gowns, prom/bridesmaids dresses. I do believe its one big achievement to keep such a score. they MUST be good.

Say I go to a local seamstress, and i swear to you that for my miserable budget she's gonna make me a dres with same synthetic material and beads most probably bought in China.

But here you forget that in China workers dont get paid same as in UK, you really think seamstress in China gets the same per hour as in UK? It is materials and labour that make the dress cheap. But it is not to say that chinese seamstress cant do her job. With the amount of dresses they sell, and amount of good feedback it is clear that they know what they are doing.

Also as in many 'struggling countries' having a job for a chinese seamstress will mean a WORLD more than in UK, with all the social benefits, etc. In those countries people without job starve, and often endup on the street drinking, and involved into crime. ( I know, I lived some time in Africa). That's to those who talk so much about being against buying from china cos of work conditions.

And again, if you look away from professional pictures of designer sites, with ideal models and lighting.... and you see same designer dresses in the pictures from real weddings on REAL people... frankly you would not know whether its real swarowski and silk or not. They do not look much different from landy's dresses.

After all, if i wear a potato bag my h2b will be as happy as if i wear a dress that costs 2 times the cost of his car.

The big desinners will always get their well-off clients, for outstanding quality, precious materials and champagne treatment.

And those withought tons of cash in their pockets, Landy's is a way to get a DREAM dress, and yes, be radiant in it and oh so beautiful.

    End of rant

I am another Landy lover, my dress is wonderful and I love it.

My mum isn't one for gushing compliments, so I know if she said something then she speaks the truth lol - and she loved it, kept saying how beautiful it looked.

Yes, I will need another corset, but in all honesty, that's cos of ME, not the dress. If I was a size 10 and a C-cup the corset wouldn't be an issue at all, I wouldn't need it.

Landy are great - but I can't expect them to perform miracles!! I have got more than my money's worth and I am extremely happy

    :D <---Happy face

As for the buying a Ferrari to find a skoda engine inside....my H2B knows his cars, and he says that a Skoda engine is great...cos it's actually made by Volkswagon/Audi :D

I am sorry if anyone is taking offence to this I truly am. Just as you are passionate about your gowns, I am passionate about my craft. I've thought about a lot of things to say but have decided to leave it as this.

I just want to add my twopennorth in that if I was slim, then I wouldn't need to wear anything at all underneath my Landy dress. But I'm not and I've got saggy boobs from breastfeeding three children so I feel that I need a little extra support in that area.

I could get away with not wearing a support garment as the boning is fine but I will feel more comfortable with my Bravissimo Confetti basque (I was going to wear a corset but I decided it was going to be too uncomfortable).

    And my wedding's tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

With battling bridesmaids and guests on the verge of divorce, my dress is the least of my worries!! LOL
